LANGUAGE

I. OBJECTIVES

1. Knowledge and skills

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

• Revise the vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and four skills that they have learnt in Units 10 - 12.

• Revise rhythm in sentences, stress on all words in sentences, and the intonation in statement questions.

• Revise vocabulary in sentences, word forms, and word formation.

• Identify the wrong use of relative clauses, some reporting verbs, and some types of adverbial clauses and correct them.

• Apply the language focus in Units 10 - 12 to write correct sentences.

2. Competences

General competences: 

• Self-control and independent learning, communication and collaboration, problem-solving.

Specific competences: 

• Accurately pronounce sentences with correct rhythm and intonation, manipulate word forms, detect grammatical errors, and transform sentences while keeping the original meaning.

II. RESOURCES AND MATERIALS

1. Teacher's aids

• Textbook Global Success 9, Teacher's Book, Lesson Plan.

• Computer, projector/smart TV, audio speakers.

• Digital board (e.g., Padlet), interactive digital quiz (e.g., Quizizz, Kahoot), interactive platform (e.g., Liveworksheets or Google Forms).

2. Students' aids

• Textbook, notebooks, pens.

• Smart devices (smartphones/tablets) with internet access.

• AI speech-to-text or pronunciation app (e.g., Google Voice, Elsa Speak), shared document (e.g., Google Docs), dictionary apps (e.g., Cambridge, Oxford,...), AI text-to-image generators (e.g., Canva AI, Bing Image Creator), Digital design tools (Canva/PowerPoint).

III. PROCEDURES

1. WARM-UP 

a. Objective: To activate students' prior knowledge, review vocabulary from Units 10-12, and create a highly engaging atmosphere before diving into the practice exercises. 

b. Content: Teacher organizes "The Memory Challenge". 

c. Product: Students successfully recall and write down the vocabulary related to the pictures shown. 

d. Organization:

Step 1: Teacher assigns learning tasks

- Teacher asks the students to watch an AI-generated video designed to support the lesson and answer the questions that appear in the video.

- Teacher divides the class into 4 teams.

- Teacher prepares some pictures of the words appearing in Units 10 - 12.

- Teacher explains the rules of Kim's game: Quickly show the pictures to Ss, cover them up and get Ss to call out (or write down) the words.

- Teacher shows a slide with 10-12 pictures for exactly 15 seconds, then hides it.

Step 2: Students perform learning tasks

- Students watch the AI-generated video and answer the questions about it. 

- Students observe the pictures in silence.

- When the pictures disappear, students use a shared team tablet to input their answers into a live digital board (e.g., Padlet) within 1 minute.

- The teacher observes and ensures no cheating occurs.

Step 3: Reporting and Discussion

- Teacher says "Time's up!" and locks the digital submission platform.

- Teacher reveals the pictures again and checks the answers with the whole class.

Step 4: Evaluation

- Teacher counts the correct words, declares the winning team, and gives them a small reward.

- Teacher leads into the lesson: Tell Ss that in Review 4, they will review the vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and four skills that they have learnt in Units 10 - 12. Ask Ss to open their books and start the lesson.

2. PRESENTATION

PRONUNCIATION 

Activity 1: Listen and repeat. 

a. Objective: To help Ss revise rhythm in sentences, stress on all words in sentences, and the intonation in statement questions. 

b. Content: Students read the sentences, listen to the recording, pay attention to pronunciation features, and repeat. 

c. Product: Students can pronounce the sentences with accurate rhythm, stress, and rising intonation for statement questions.

VOCABULARY

Activity 2: Choose the correct answer A, B, C, or D.

a. Objective: To help Ss revise vocabulary in sentences. 

b. Content: Students read 5 sentences and choose the best word/phrase to complete them. 

c. Product: Students' correct multiple-choice answers based on context clues.
