III. PROCEDURES

1. WARM-UP

a. Objective: To spark curiosity, activate background knowledge about Ha Noi's demographic and physical changes, and prepare students for scanning specific information in the reading text.

b. Content: Students complete a predicting task called "Mission: The Number Game".

c. Product: Students' logical guesses and hypotheses regarding what specific numbers represent in the context of Ha Noi.

d. Organization:

Step 1: Teacher assigns learning tasks

- Teacher asks the students to watch an AI-generated video designed to support the lesson and answer the questions that appear in the video.

- Teacher divides the class into 4 groups.

- Teacher introduces the mission: Today, we are going to look at the urbanisation of our capital, Ha Noi. Your mission is to decode some historical and current data. I will give you 5 numbers. You have 3 minutes to discuss in your groups and guess what these numbers represent regarding Ha Noi's development.

- Teacher uses a smart TV to display a live interactive quiz on Mentimeter/Kahoot with 5 numbers (1954, 152, 530,000, 2,000, 8,000,000).

Step 2: Students perform learning tasks

- Students watch the AI-generated video and answer the questions about it.

- Ss use their smartphones to access the quiz via a QR code. They work in groups, discussing and submitting their guesses electronically.

- Ss are encouraged to use an AI Chatbot (like ChatGPT/Gemini) on their phones to verify their guesses rapidly.

- The teacher observes, encouraging them to think about the differences between the past and the present.

Step 3: Reporting and Discussion

- Teacher projects the live results on the screen.

- Expected guesses:1954 is a year; 530,000 and 8,000,000 are the population in the past and present; 152 and 2,000 might be the area size or number of buildings.

Step 4: Evaluation

- Teacher praises the groups for their logical thinking and creativity.

- Teacher leads directly into the lesson: You have made some excellent hypotheses! To find out which group's 'Number Detectives' are the most accurate, we are going to dive into today's reading text. Let's open your books to Lesson 3: Reading – Urbanisation of Ha Noi.

[2.1.NC1a]: Choose simple digital technologies for interaction.

[6.2.NC1a]: Integrate AI tools into existing workflows. Students use Generative AI apps on their smartphones to quickly cross-check historical data and demographic numbers about Ha Noi during their brainstorming process.
