UNIT 3: CITIES OF THE FUTURE
LESSON 6: WRITING
I. OBJECTIVES
1. Knowledge and skills
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
- Develop ideas for writing about the pros and cons of smart cities.
- Understand the structure and language of an article expressing advantages and disadvantages.
- Write an article (120-150 words) about the advantages and disadvantages of living in a smart city.
2. Competences
General competences:
- Self-control and independent learning: actively brainstorm ideas and write the article individually.
- Communication and collaboration: work in pairs to discuss statements and match article parts.

- Writing skills (organizing ideas into an introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion).

III. PROCEDURES
1. WARM-UP
a. Objective: To activate students' prior knowledge, create an engaging atmosphere, and smoothly lead into the topic of smart city advantages and disadvantages.
b. Content: Teacher organizes a "Think - Pair - Share" activity about a familiar smart device.
c. Product: Students' ideas about the pros and cons of using technology.

Step 1: Teacher assigns learning tasks
- Teacher asks the students to watch an AI-generated video designed to support the lesson and answer the questions that appear in the video.
- Teacher asks students to think about one smart device they use every day (e.g., a smartphone or a smart camera).
- Task: Think of ONE good thing (advantage) and ONE bad thing (disadvantage) about using this device.
- Teacher instructs Ss to use an AI chatbot on their devices to ask for one pros and cons of their chosen device, then compare it with their own thoughts.
Step 2: Students perform learning tasks
- Students watch the AI-generated video and answer the questions about it.
- Students think individually for 1 minute, use AI to search, then turn to their partner to share and evaluate the AI's ideas.
- The teacher observes and encourages students to speak.
Step 3: Reporting and Discussion
- Teacher invites 2-3 pairs to share their ideas with the whole class.
