UNIT 3: MUSIC

LESSON 8: LOOKING BACK AND PROJECT

 

I. OBJECTIVES 

1. Knowledge and skills 

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

  • Revise stress in two-syllable words.
  • Revise vocabulary items related to music they have learnt in the unit.
  • Revise compound sentences and verbs followed by to-infinitives and bare infinitives.
  • Develop research and collaboration skills, and practice giving an oral presentation about a form of traditional music.
  • Perform self-assessment and peer assessment.

2. Competences

General competences: 

  • Self-control and independent learning: complete self-assessment and reflect on personal learning progress.
  • Communication and collaboration: work effectively in groups to deliver an oral presentation and provide peer feedback.

Specific competences:

  • Pronounce two-syllable words correctly with proper stress.
  • Use correct grammar structures (compound sentences, infinitives) accurately in written tasks.

Digital competences:

III. PROCEDURES

1. WARM-UP

a. Objective: To activate students' vocabulary related to music, train their listening comprehension, and create an engaging, highly focused atmosphere before the review lesson.

b. Content: Teacher organizes a "Guess the Secret Word" activity where students listen to a set of clues and guess the exact music vocabulary.

c. Product: Students correctly identify the target vocabulary (Piano, Concert, Fans, Band).

d. Organization:

Step 1: Teacher assigns learning tasks

- Teacher asks the students to watch an AI-generated video designed to support the lesson and answer the questions that appear in the video.

- Teacher divides the class into 4 teams.

- Teacher explains the rules: "I will give you 2 or 3 clues for a secret word related to music. Listen carefully and raise your hand as fast as you can to guess the word."

Step 2: Students perform learning tasks

- Students watch the AI-generated video and answer the questions about it. 

- Teacher reads the clues loudly and clearly.

Clue 1: It is a large musical instrument. It has black and white keys.

Clue 2: It is a live music performance in front of an audience.

- Students listen and quickly discuss with their teammates.
