LESSON 3: READING
I. OBJECTIVES
1. Knowledge and skills
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
- Understand the context and read for general ideas and specific information about popular TV music shows (American Idol, The X Factor).
- Guess the meanings of words and phrases in context.
- Talk about whether they want to participate in a music competition and give basic reasons.
2. Competences
General competences:
- Self-control and independent learning: read the text actively and complete reading tasks.
- Communication and collaboration: work in pairs or groups to discuss opinions and share answers.
Specific competences:
- Develop reading skills like skimming for main ideas and scanning for specific details.
- Use target vocabulary related to music shows in basic written and spoken exercises.
