TEACHER'S AND STUDENTS' ACTIVITIESEXPECTED PRODUCTSDIGITAL SKILL

Step 1: Teacher assigns learning tasks

- Teacher focuses Ss' attention on the page and asks them to skim through the list of inventions and their uses (The Internet, 3D printer, earbuds, robot vacuum cleaner, drone).

- Teacher explains any new words.

- Teacher asks Ss to read the Useful expressions box.

- Teacher models the conversation with a student using the first invention (The Internet).

Step 2: Students perform learning tasks

- Ss work in pairs to ask and answer about the remaining inventions on the list.

- If students encounter unfamiliar tech terms, they are encouraged to search for them online by using digital dictionaries (e.g., Cambridge, Oxford,...).

- Teacher walks round the class, observes, and offers help. Make sure Ss swap roles.

Step 3: Reporting and Discussion

- Teacher asks some pairs to stand up and explain the use of each invention in front of the class.

Step 4: Evaluation

- Teacher corrects pronunciation and grammar mistakes if necessary.

- Teacher moves on to the next content.

- Useful expressions:

+ help(s) sb (to) do sth

+ allow(s) sb to do sth

+ be used to do / for doing sth

- Model:

T: What's the first invention?

S: The Internet.

T: What does it help us to do? / What is it used for?

S: It helps us to communicate over long distances.

[1.1.NC1b]: Applying search techniques on smartphones to find the correct pronunciation or extra uses of the inventions.

TEACHER'S AND STUDENTS' ACTIVITIESEXPECTED PRODUCTSDIGITAL SKILL

Step 1: Teacher assigns learning tasks

- Teacher asks groups to present their ideas.

- Teacher sets a time limit of 3 minutes per group.

- Teacher provides a QR code linking to an online voting form (Google Forms): Content (2 pts), Language (2 pts), Delivery (2 pts). Total: 6 points.

Step 2: Students perform learning tasks

- Groups take turns presenting their ideas. During their pitch, Ss apply digital tools (e.g., Canva, PowerPoint) on laptops to create and display visual content while presenting.

- The rest of the class listens, takes notes, and gives marks out of 6 for the presenting group based on the criteria.

d. Organization:

Step 1: Teacher assigns learning tasks

- Teacher introduces the homework project: "Shark Tank: Pitch Your Crazy Invention!"

- Task requirements:

+ Imagine you are an inventor looking for investments. Invent a completely new, fictional, or "crazy" device (e.g., a machine that translates dog barks into English, a pen that does your homework, flying shoes).

+ Use the outline learned in Activity 2 (Intro, Development, Conclusion) to write a pitch.

+ Record a 1-to-2 minute video presenting your invention to the "sharks" (the teacher and classmates). You can draw a picture or make a cardboard model of your invention to show in the video.

Step 2: Students perform learning tasks

- To visualize their idea, Ss integrate generative AI tools (e.g., DALL-E, Bing Image Creator) on computers to generate a visual prototype of their invention.

- To present the pitch, Ss express themselves by recording and editing a digital video pitch using video editing software (e.g., CapCut).

- Ss share the final digital video pitch on the class's shared online platform (e.g., Padlet, Google Classroom).

Step 3: Reporting and Discussion

- The class will watch the top 3 best videos, and the teacher will act as the "Shark" to decide if they get the "investment".

Step 4: Evaluation

- Teacher ensures everyone understands the project.

- Teacher summarizes the lesson and assigns additional homework.

[6.2.NC1a]: Develop customized AI applications to solve specific problems.

[3.1.NC1b]: Identify ways to express oneself through the creation of digital content.

[2.2.NC1a]: Share data, information, and digital content through a variety of appropriate digital tools.

* HOMEWORK

- Review the vocabulary and target expressions to talk about uses of inventions.

- Complete the Application video project ("Shark Tank Pitch") and submit it by the deadline.

- Prepare for the next lesson: Lesson 5 - Listening.
