1. WARM-UP

a. Objective: To create an energetic learning atmosphere, revise previous vocabulary, and lead naturally into the topic of school trips.

b. Organisation: 

- Teacher greets the class.

- Teacher asks the students to watch an AI-generated video designed to support the lesson and answer the questions that appear in the video.

- Teacher shows some flashcards or pictures of famous places in Vietnam (e.g., a beach, a mountain, a zoo).

- Teacher acts as a Travel Agent and says: "Hello! Last weekend, I went to a beautiful place. I swam in the sea. Did I go to the mountain?"

- Pupils answer: "No, you didn't!"

- Teacher: "Did I go to the beach?"

- Pupils: "Yes, you did!"

- Repeat with one more place (e.g., seeing animals   zoo).

- Teacher praises the class and introduces the new topic: "Today, we will talk about where our friends went on their school trips."

- Ask pupils to open their books at page 68 and look at Unit 10, Lesson 1, Activity 1. Tell pupils what they will learn in this lesson.

- Pupils greet the teacher.

Activity 2: Listen, point and say.

a. Objective: To correctly say the phrases for the names of places and use Did they go to _____? – Yes, they did. / No, they didn't. to ask and answer questions about school trips in the past.

b. Organisation:

- Teacher asks pupils to look at the pictures and identify the characters and places (a. Ba Na Hills, b. Hoan Kiem Lake, c. Suoi Tien Theme Park, d. Bai Dinh Pagoda). Explain the use of did in positive answers and didn't in negative answers.

- Find information and content by guiding pupils to use a digital map application to search for the four landmarks.

- Teacher plays the first part of the recording for pupils to listen and repeat the place names under the pictures and the words yes and no, in chorus and individually, until they feel confident.

- Teacher has pupils point at Picture a. Draw pupils' attention to the speech bubbles and elicit the missing words (Did they go to Ba Na Hills? – Yes, they did.). Play the next part of the recording a few times for pupils to repeat the sentences in both bubbles.

- Teacher repeats Step 3 for Pictures b, c, and d. Let pupils practise asking and answering questions in pairs. Go around the classroom to offer help if necessary.

Extension: Ask pupils to use other words to replace the names in the question and practise asking and answering questions in pairs (e.g. Did they go to Sam Son Beach? – Yes, they did. / No, they didn't.). Correct their pronunciation and intonation.

- Teacher moves on to the next content.

- Pupils look at the pictures and identify the famous landmarks.

Activity 4: Listen and tick or cross.

a. Objective: To listen to and understand four communicative contexts in which characters ask and answer questions about their school trip, and tick or cross the pictures.

b. Organisation:

- Teacher draws pupils’ attention to the pictures and asks Where are they? Remind them to look at the places while listening (1. Hoan Kiem Lake, 2. Suoi Tien Theme Park, 3. Bai Dinh Pagoda, 4. Ba Na Hills).

- Teacher does Picture 1 together as an example. Have pupils look at the picture and identify the place. Play the recording of the first conversation (Did they go to Hoan Kiem Lake yesterday? – Yes, they did.) and ask pupils to tick the box.

- Select simple digital technologies to interact by deploying the listening and reading exercises through an online live-quizzing platform (e.g., Quizizz or Blooket).

- Teacher plays the recording of the other conversations for pupils to listen and tick or cross the appropriate boxes.

- Teacher gets pupils to swap books with a partner to check their answers before checking as a class. Correct the answers, if necessary.

- Teacher moves on to the next content.

- Pupils analyze the picture options to prepare for listening.

- Pupils follow the teacher's model for the first item.

- Select simple digital technologies to interact by submitting their ticks, crosses, and circled answers using their personal tablets on the live-quizzing platform.

Activity 6: Listen, complete and sing.

a. Objective: To listen to and complete the song 'Did they go to Suoi Tien Theme Park?' and to sing it with the correct pronunciation, rhythm and melody.

b. Organisation:

- Teacher tells pupils the aim of the activity. They listen to the song and fill in the gaps in the lyrics and then sing it.

- Teacher has pupils read the lyrics and guess the word(s) to fill in the gaps. For example, the verb watch is used to fill in the first gap because it is part of the phrase watch a film. Then have them listen to the song and fill in the gaps. Play the recording twice if necessary. Check answers as a class.

- Teacher plays the recording and lets pupils listen to and practise singing the song, line by line, until they feel confident.

- Teacher invites a few groups to the front of the class to sing the song. The class may sing along and clap.

- Teacher moves on to the next content.

- Pupils read the lyrics and the gapped text.

- Pupils use context clues to guess the words, then listen to the audio to confirm and write them down.

- Pupils listen to catch the beat and melody.

4. APPLICATION

a. Objective: To apply the learned language (Did they go to...?) into a highly interactive, deductive, and fun role-play scenario.

b. Organisation:

Mission: "The Guessing Detective" 

- Teacher divides the class into groups of 4.

- In each group, two pupils (Pupil A & B) will secretly decide on ONE famous place they "went to" on their school trip last week (e.g., Ba Na Hills, Hoan Kiem Lake, a museum). They write it on a piece of paper and hide it.

- The other two pupils (Pupil C & D) act as the "Detectives".

- The Detectives must ask Yes/No questions to find out where Pupil A & B went.

+ Detectives: "Did they go to the zoo?"

+ Pupil A & B: "No, they didn't." (or "No, we didn't" if speaking in 1st person).

+ Detectives: "Did they go to Suoi Tien Theme Park?"

+ Pupil A & B: "Yes, they did!"

- The Detectives have 3 tries to guess correctly. Then, they swap roles.

- Teacher goes around to monitor and praises the groups using English fluently.

* CONSOLIDATION

- Teacher reviews and summarizes the main points of the lesson (Did they go to... / Yes, they did / No, they didn't).

- Teacher comments on and evaluates pupils' participation.

* ADVICE

- Review the vocabulary and sentence structures learned today.

- Practice asking your friends about their past trips.

- Prepare for Unit 10 - Lesson 2.

- Pupils listen to the game rules.

- Pupils collaborate secretly to pick a location.

- Pupils practice their asking and answering skills dynamically under the guise of a guessing game.
