2. PRESENTATION

Activity 1: Look, listen and repeat.

a. Objective: To understand and correctly repeat the sentences in two communicative contexts in which characters ask and answer questions about possession.

b. Organisation:

- The teacher projects an interactive digital version of the comic strip on the smartboard, using touch controls to highlight specific speech bubbles (Mai and Nam) as the audio plays.

- Teacher asks pupils to look at Pictures a and b and identify the characters (Mai, Nam) and the school things (a crayon).

- Teacher asks pupils to look at Picture a. Play the recording of Exchange a for them to listen. Play the recording again, sentence by sentence, for pupils to listen and repeat. Correct their pronunciation where necessary.

- Follow the same procedure with Picture b.

- Teacher invites a few pairs to the front of the classroom to listen to and repeat the sentences in the recording.

- Teacher draws their attention to the question "Whose crayon is this?" and the answer "It's Linh's." Tell pupils that they are the question and answer about possession (Note the 's).

- Teacher moves on to the next content.

- Pupils follow the digital content being navigated on the smartboard, observing how the digital highlights emphasize the spoken text in a dynamic format.

- Pupils look at the pictures and describe the context.

* Context:

a. Mai asking Nam if this is his crayon. Nam answers no.

b. Mai asking whose crayon it is. Nam says it's Linh's.

- Pupils listen to the recording and follow along.

- Pupils pay attention to their pronunciation and intonation.

- Pairs go to the front and role-play the exchanges.

- Pupils observe the target structure (Whose... / It's...) and take notes.

Activity 3: Let's talk.

a. Objective: To use Is this your ____? - ____. and Whose ____ is this? - It's ____. in a freer context.

b. Organisation:

- Teacher draws pupils’ attention to the picture (Minh holding a set square, Lucy holding a crayon, Linh holding a pencil sharpener, Bill holding a glue stick). Ask questions to help them identify the context.

- Teacher puts pupils into pairs and encourages them to ask and answer questions about possession. Go around the classroom to offer support where necessary.

- Teacher invites a few pairs to practise asking and answering questions about possession, using the picture cues. Praise pupils if they perform well.

- Teacher invites a few pairs to the front of the class to perform their conversations (e.g., "Is this your set square? - No, it isn't. - Whose set square is this? - It's Minh's.").

- Teacher moves on to the next content.

- Pupils observe the classroom scene and identify who is holding which item.

- Pupils work in pairs, freely choosing items in the picture to ask about and giving the correct answers based on the visual cues.

- Pairs perform their role-play for the class confidently.

Activity 5: Read and complete.

a. Objective: To complete two gapped exchanges with the help of picture cues.

b. Organisation:

- Teacher has pupils look at the pictures. Get them to identify the locations of the school things.

- The teacher sets up a shared digital document on the smartboard where the incomplete dialogues are displayed.

- Teacher has pupils look at the two gapped exchanges. Draw their attention to the missing words in the sentences.

- Teacher does Exchange 1 together as a class. Ask them what word is missing (It's). Then have them complete the sentence (It's Phuong Nga's). Get them to guess the missing word in the second gap (under). Follow Step 3 for Exchange 2.

- Teacher gets pupils to swap books with a partner and checks their answers before checking as a class. Ask a few pairs to read the completed exchanges aloud.

- Teacher moves on to the next content.

- Pupils observe the visual cues and read the incomplete dialogues.

- Pupils show how to edit digital content by using their virtual keyboards to type the missing words directly into the assigned digital document on their tablets.

- Pupils follow the teacher's instructions to deduce the missing pronouns, prepositions, and nouns.

- Pupils work independently to write the correct words.

- Pupils swap books to check.

- Pairs stand up and read the completed dialogues aloud to the class.
