2. PRESENTATION

Activity 1: Listen and repeat.

a. Objective: To correctly pronounce the three-syllable words 'cinema and 'bakery with the stress on the first syllable in isolation and in sentences.

b. Organisation:

- Teacher has pupils point at the word 'cinema and the sentence I was at the 'cinema yesterday. Draw attention to the stress mark (') on the first syllable. Play the recording of the word and the sentence for pupils to listen and repeat, in chorus and individually, until they feel confident. Correct their stress and pronunciation if necessary.

- The teacher uses an AI-powered pronunciation application to model the words and display the audio waveforms on the screen.

- Teacher invites a few pupils to listen to and repeat the word and the sentence in front of the class. Praise them.

- Teacher repeats Steps 1 and 2 for the word 'bakery and the sentence We were at the 'bakery yesterday.

- Teacher gives pupils a time limit to practise saying the words and reading the sentences in pairs or groups.

- Teacher moves on to the next content.

- Pupils look at their books, listen to the audio, and point to the words.

- Pupils observe the stress mark.

- Pupils listen and repeat the words and sentences, focusing on emphasizing the first syllable (ci-, ba-).

Activity 3: Let's chant.

a. Objective: To say the chant with the correct pronunciation, word stress and rhythm.

b. Organisation:

- Teacher has pupils read the first verse of the chant. Draw their attention to the stress in the three-syllable words ('yesterday, 'cinema, 'interesting). Check comprehension.

- Teacher plays the recording of the first verse for pupils to listen. Play it again, line by line, for pupils to listen and repeat. Draw their attention to the rhythm and pronunciation. Encourage them to clap while chanting.

- Teacher repeats the steps for the second verse of the chant, focusing on the words 'yesterday and 'bakery.

- Teacher plays the recording all the way through for pupils to chant and clap.

Extension: Replace 'reading, 'dancing, 'drawing, 'painting in the first verse with other gerunds which have the stress on the first syllable (e.g., 'swimming, 'writing, 'talking, 'hiking). Have pupils do the same thing with the second verse and practise chanting the new one.

- Teacher moves on to the next content.

- Pupils scan the lyrics and identify the words stressed on the first syllable.

- Pupils listen to the beat, practice chanting line by line, and clap their hands on the stressed syllables.

- Pupils practice the second verse.

- The whole class chants together rhythmically.

- Pupils creatively modify the chant with new vocabulary.

Activity 5: Let's write.

a. Objective: To complete a short text of about 30 words about outdoor activities with the help of picture cues.

b. Organisation:

- Teacher tells the class the goal of the activity: they should complete a short text with the help of the picture cues (campsite, walking, singing/eating, playing games). Tell pupils that the text should be about 30 words in total.

- Teacher does the first gapped sentence together as an example. Have pupils read the sentence and elicit the answer. Then have them look at the picture and identify the place they went to (the campsite) and write it in the gap (Last summer, we went to the campsite.).

- Teacher gives pupils time to look at the picture cues and complete the activity independently.

- The teacher instructs pupils to type their text on a collaborative digital document and use a basic AI grammar checker to review their work.

- Teacher gets pupils to swap their books with a partner and check their answers before checking as a class.

- Invite one or two pupils to read their completed texts in front of the class. 

- Teacher moves on to the next content.

- Pupils look at the sequential picture cues and read the gapped paragraph frame.

- Pupils follow the teacher's model for the first gap, matching the visual to the vocabulary.

- Pupils work independently to write the correct past tense action phrases in the blanks.

- Pupils type their text and apply an AI grammar checker to verify their past tense verbs and spelling.

- Pupils swap books to peer-edit and check for spelling/grammar mistakes.

- Selected pupils proudly read their completed paragraphs to the class.

a. Objective: To consolidate phonics (word stress), vocabulary (past actions), and grammar structures (Past Simple) learned in the unit.

b. Organisation:

Mission 1: 

TASK 1: Categorize the words based on their stress pattern.

- Teacher distributes a mini-worksheet to the class.

TASK 2: Choose the correct answer A, B, or C.

- Teacher asks pupils to read the 5 questions carefully and choose the correct answer (A, B or C).

- Teacher uses kenhhoctap to host the multiple-choice questions for real-time collaborative practice.
