1. WARM-UP

a. Objective: To create an energetic learning atmosphere, revise classroom objects, and introduce the concept of prepositions of place.

b. Organisation:

- Teacher greets the class.

- Teacher asks the students to watch an AI-generated video designed to support the lesson and answer the questions that appear in the video.

- Teacher asks pupils to close their eyes. Teacher hides a big, colorful pen somewhere visible in the classroom (e.g., on the desk, under a chair, next to a book).

- Teacher asks pupils to open their eyes and asks: "Where is my pen?"

- Pupils try to point and say where it is (they can use Vietnamese or simple English if they know).

- Teacher responds using the target prepositions: "Ah, it's ON the desk! It's UNDER the chair!"

- Repeat 2-3 times with different objects.

- Teacher writes the title "In our classroom" on the board and models it for the class to repeat. Tell pupils what they will learn in this lesson (asking about locations of multiple things).

Activity 2: Listen, point and say

a. Objective: To correctly say the words and use Where are the ____? - They're ____. to ask and answer questions about the locations of school things.

b. Organisation:

- Teacher asks pupils to look at Pictures a, b, c and d and identify the locations of the school things (a. pencils / beside / book, b. erasers / under / desk, c. pictures / above / window, d. pens / in front of / clock).

- The teacher shares a digital flashcard deck containing the target vocabulary and prepositions to the pupils' tablets via the class network.

- Teacher has pupils point at Picture a, listen to the first small section of the recording and repeat the words. Repeat the procedure with the other three pictures.

- Teacher has pupils look at Picture a again and listen to the first exchange (Where are the pencils? - They're beside the book.). Ask them to repeat it. Follow the same procedure with the other pictures and exchanges. Have the class repeat a few times.

- Teacher has pairs practise asking and answering the question. Go around the classroom to offer help.

- Teacher invites a few pairs to point at the pictures and say the questions and answers in front of the class.

- Teacher moves on to the next content.

- Pupils look at the pictures and identify the plural objects and the prepositions of place.

- Pupils select routine digital tools by opening the shared digital flashcard deck on their personal tablets, collaborating with a partner to swipe through and practice the target phrases.

Activity 4: Listen and tick or cross.

a. Objective: To listen to and understand four communicative contexts in which characters ask and answer about the locations of school things, and tick or cross the pictures.

b. Organisation:

- Teacher draws pupils’ attention to the pictures and elicits the names of the school things and their locations by asking questions (What are these? Where are they?). Remind them to look at Pictures 1, 2, 3, and 4. Elicit the words rulers, school bags, pictures, pens, and prepositions.

- The teacher instructs pupils to apply ways to avoid risks to their physical health by properly adjusting their tablet screen brightness to reduce eye strain and setting their headset volume to a safe level before starting.

- Teacher plays the recording all the way through for pupils to listen. Play it again for them to do the task by ticking or crossing the correct pictures. Play it a third time for pupils to check.

- Teacher gets pupils to swap books with a partner to check their answers. Have pupils explain the answers by asking questions (e.g., "Where are the rulers?").

- Teacher moves on to the next content.

- Pupils analyze the picture options (1. rulers beside a notebook, 2. school bags on a table, 3. pictures above a window, 4. pencils in a desk) to prepare for listening.

- Pupils differentiate and apply simple ways to avoid risks to physical health by safely adjusting the screen brightness and audio volume on their digital devices.

Activity 6: Let's sing.

a. Objective: To sing the song 'Where are they?' with the correct pronunciation, rhythm and melody.

b. Organisation:

- Teacher draws pupils’ attention to the title and lyrics of the song. Encourage them to point at the locations of school things in the picture to reinforce their understanding.

- Teacher plays the recording all the way through for pupils to listen to the whole song.

- Teacher plays the recording again, line by line, for pupils to listen and repeat. Correct their pronunciation where necessary.

- Teacher plays the recording all the way through for pupils to sing and clap along.

Extension: Invite some groups to the front of the class to perform while the rest of the class sings and claps along.

- Teacher moves on to the next content.

- Pupils read the lyrics and look at the classroom picture.

- Pupils listen to catch the beat and melody.

- Pupils practice singing line by line.

4. APPLICATION

a. Objective: To apply the learned language into a creative, personalized drawing and speaking task.

b. Organisation:

Mission: "My Dream Desk" 

- Teacher gives each pupil a blank piece of paper.

- Teacher asks pupils to draw their "Dream Desk" at home or school, including at least 4 plural items (e.g., pens, books, rulers, erasers) placed in different locations (on, under, beside, in front of the computer/lamp, etc.).

- Pupils work in pairs. Pupil A shows their drawing. Pupil B asks 3 questions:

"Where are the (pens)?"

- Pupil A answers based on their drawing: "They're (beside the books)."

- Swap roles.

- Teacher invites 2-3 confident pupils to come to the front, show their drawing, and present: "Hello, this is my desk. The pens are in front of the lamp. The books are under the desk...".

- Teacher praises their creativity and clear pronunciation.

* CONSOLIDATION

- Teacher reviews and summarizes the main points of the lesson (Where are the... / They're...).
