UNIT 7: OUR FAVORITE SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
Lesson 1 (2 periods)
I. OBJECTIVES
1. Knowledge and skills
By the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to:
- Understand and correctly repeat the sentences in two communicative contexts focusing on asking and answering questions about someone’s favourite school activity.
- Correctly say the phrases and use "What school activity does he/she like? - He/She likes ___." to ask and answer questions about someone's favourite school activity.
- Listen to and understand four exchanges in which speakers ask and answer questions about someone’s favourite school activities, and number the pictures.
- Complete four gapped exchanges with the help of picture cues.
- Listen to and complete the song "What school activities does she like?" and sing it with the correct pronunciation, rhythm and melody.

- Student’s aids: Tiếng Anh 5 Global Success Student’s book; Workbook; Notebook; Personal tablets or smartphones (for digital activities).

2. PRESENTATION Activity 1: Look, listen and repeat a. Objective: To understand and correctly repeat the sentences in two communicative contexts. b. Organisation: - Teacher asks pupils to look at Pictures a and b, identify the characters (Mai and Ben) and say what they can see.
- Teacher plays the recording for Picture a. Have pupils listen. Play again, sentence by sentence, for pupils to listen and repeat individually and in chorus. - Teacher guides pupils to use a basic AI voice-recognition tool (e.g., Google Voice Typing or a language app) on their tablets to practice the exchange and see if the AI accurately transcribes their spoken sentences. - Teacher repeats the same procedure with Picture b. - Teacher invites a few pairs of pupils to listen and repeat Exchanges a and b. - Teacher draws their attention to the question "What school activity does he like?" and the answer "He likes reading books." Tell pupils this is used to talk about someone's favourite school activity. - Teacher moves on to the next content. |
- Pupils look at the pictures, identify characters and describe the context. + Context a: Mai on the phone to Ben, telling him that she's helping her brother solve a maths problem. + Context b: Mai telling Ben about her brother's favourite school activity.
- Pupils listen to the recording and follow along.
- Pupils speak the target sentences into their tablets and checking the real-time AI transcription to self-correct their pronunciation.
- Pupils listen and repeat the sentences. - Pairs go to the front and role-play the exchanges. - Pupils pay attention to the target structure highlighted by the teacher. |

Activity 3: Let's talk a. Objective: To use What school activity does he/she like? – He/She likes ____. in a freer context. b. Organisation: - Teacher draws pupils' attention to each picture (boy presenting project, girl solving maths, pupils playing games, boy reading).
- Teacher asks questions to revise the relevant phrases and writes elicited answers on the board. - Teacher puts pupils into pairs to take turns asking and answering questions about someone's favourite school activity in the pictures. - Teacher invites a few pairs to the front to perform. * Suggested answers:
B: He likes doing projects.
B: She likes solving maths problems.
B: She likes playing games.
B: He likes reading books. - Teacher moves on to the next content. |

- Teacher gets pupils to swap books. Invite a pupil to write answers on the board. - Teacher moves on to the next content. |
- Pupils follow the teacher's example for dialogue 1.
- Pupils work independently to read and fill in the missing words.
