UNIT 3: MY FOREIGN FRIENDS
Lesson 3 (2 periods)
I. OBJECTIVES
1. Knowledge and skills
By the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to:
- Correctly pronounce the two-syllable words 'active and 'friendly with the stress on the first syllable, in isolation and in the sentences He's 'active. and She's 'friendly..
- Identify the stress on some two-syllable words and circle the word with a different stress pattern from the other two words.
- Say the chant with the correct pronunciation, word stress and rhythm.
- Read and show understanding of the text by completing the table.
- Fill in the form with some information about a foreign friend.
- Present a poster about countries and their nationalities to the class.

Activity 3: Let's chant a. Objective: To say the chant with the correct pronunciation, word stress and rhythm. b. Organisation: - Teacher has pupils look at the pictures and state the activities the girl and boy are doing and think of words to describe their personalities.
- Teacher accesses the digital textbook platform (hoclieu.vn) to quickly retrieve and stream the chant audio track.
- Teacher has pupils read the first verse and draws attention to the stress in the words active and friendly. - Teacher plays the recording of the first verse for pupils to listen, then play it again, line by line, for pupils to repeat. Encourage them to clap or do actions while chanting. - Teacher repeats the procedure for the second verse, drawing attention to the words helpful and clever. - Teacher plays the recording all the way through for pupils to chant and clap their hands. Extension: Replace two adjectives in the chant with other adjectives which have the stress on the first syllable, e.g. happy, busy, quiet, tidy, gentle. Have pupils practise the new chant. - Teacher moves on to the next content. |

- Pupils access the digital version of the textbook on their tablets to view the chant lyrics clearly while listening. - Pupils read the lyrics and note the stressed syllables.

- Teacher demonstrates how to write a simple text prompt (e.g., "a friendly boy with short hair") into an educational AI image generator to create a portrait for the imaginary friend's profile.
