UNIT 1: IN THE SCHOOL PLAYGROUND
Lesson 1
I. OBJECTIVES
1. Knowledge and skills
By the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to:
- Pronounce the sound of the letter B/b in isolation correctly.
- Pronounce the words Bill, ball, bike, book correctly.
- Point to the correct letter, boy, and things and say the sound of the letter B/b and the words.
2. Competences
- Communication and collaboration: work in pairs and groups to complete the learning tasks.
- Self-control & independent learning: perform pronunciation and speaking tasks.

2. PRESENTATION Activity 1. Listen and repeat a. Objective: Pupils will be able to pronounce the sound of the letter B/b in isolation and in the words Bill, ball, bike, book correctly. b. Organisation: - Have pupils look at the picture (saying 'Look at the picture, please!') and describe it. Draw pupils’ attention to the letter B/b, the word next to Bill and other words next to the things and the colour of the letter B/b.
- Teacher uses an AI educational voice assistant on the computer to demonstrate the pronunciation of the letter B and the words, showing how AI helps in learning language sounds accurately. - Repeat the same procedure with the ball, the bike and the book. Give further support to those pupils who find it difficult to do the task. - Play the recording again and have them listen, point to the letter B/b, Bill, the ball, bike and book and repeat until they feel confident. - Call some pupils to say the letter B/b and the words in front of the class. Praise them ('Well done!'). - Teacher moves on to the next content. |
- Pupils listen to the AI voice assistant and interact by repeating the sounds generated by the basic AI system.
- Pupils point to the letter B/b, listen to the audio, and repeat the sound.
- Pupils point to Bill and the word 'Bill', listen and repeat.
- Pupils point to the ball, bike, and book, listen and repeat the words.

3. PRACTICE a. Objective: Pupils will be able to quickly recognize the learned vocabulary and reinforce their memory through a physical activity. b. Organisation: Game: Slap the board - Write four words (Bill, ball, bike, book) or stick the flashcards with these words on the board. Tell pupils to look at the board. - Tell pupils how the game is played: 'This game is played in a group of four people. When I say a word, you will run as quickly as possible to the board and touch/slap your hand on the correct word/flashcard. The quickest gets one point.' - Keep score on the board. The pupil/team with the highest score will be the winner. |
- Pupils listen carefully to the teacher's instructions on how to play 'Slap the board'. - Pupils divide into groups. Representatives from each group step up. - Pupils listen to the word called out by the teacher, run, and slap the correct flashcard as fast as possible. - The whole class cheers for their teams. | |
