UNIT 3: AT THE STREET MARKET

Lesson 3 (1 period)

   

I. OBJECTIVES

1. Knowledge and skills

By the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to:

  • Listen and repeat the sentence "This is my bag." correctly.
  • Introduce the things they possess, using the structure "This is my ___." correctly with the core vocabulary: bag, hat, apple, can.
  • Sing a song with the structures "Hi, I’m ___." and "This is my ___." with correct pronunciation, natural tune/rhythm, and sweet melody.

2. Competences

  • Communication and collaboration: Work in pairs or groups to complete the speaking and singing tasks. 
  • Self-control & independent learning: Perform pronunciation and confidently point and say the target language.

2. PRESENTATION

Activity 6: Listen and repeat.

a. Objective: Pupils will be able to listen and repeat the sentence "This is my bag."

b. Organisation:

- Have pupils look at the picture. Point to the girl and ask: "Who is this?" (It's a girl). Point to the bag and ask: "What is this?" (It's a bag). Point to the sentence and say: "This is my bag." Play the recording from sachmem.net for pupils to listen.

- Play the recording several times again for pupils to listen and repeat the sentence.

- Ask pupils to point to the sentence and say it (Point and say, please!). Support pupils who find it difficult.

- The teacher projects an AI voice-recognition application (eg., Native Speech,...) on the Smartboard. The teacher demonstrates speaking into the smart microphone to get real-time AI feedback (e.g., a green checkmark or star for correct pronunciation).

- Teacher moves on to the next content.

- Pupils point to the sentence in their books and say "This is my bag."

Activity 8: Let's sing!

a. Objective: Pupils will be able to sing a song with the structures "Hi, I'm ___." and "This is my ___."

b. Organisation:

- Have pupils read the lyrics to familiarise themselves with the first verse. Check comprehension.

- Play the recording from sachmem.net several times for pupils to repeat the verse, line after line.

- Follow the same procedure with the second verse of the lyrics.

- The teacher plays a synchronized digital lyric video from sachmem.net on the screen where the text highlights exactly as the audio plays (karaoke style).

   

- Have pupils listen to the whole song, drawing attention to the pronunciation, stress, and melody.

- Let pupils practise singing the song line by line, then the whole song. Ask some pupils to sing individually and praise them.

- Have the class sing the whole song and clap their hands to reinforce the tune and rhythm.

- Teacher moves on to the next content.

   

   

   

   

   

- Pupils look at the lyrics and understand the context.

   

- Pupils repeat the first verse line by line after the recording.

- Pupils repeat the second verse line by line.

- Pupils follow the dynamically highlighted digital text on the smart screen to sing the song in rhythm.

- Pupils practise singing together.

4. APPLICATION

a. Objective: To apply the learned sentence structure in real life confidently by combining parent interaction and visual memory.

b. Organisation:

Task: "Little Model”

- Teacher gives a fun home mission: "Tonight, choose your favorite bag, hat, apple, or can at home. You will be a little model!"

- Pupils must ask their parents (mother/father) to take a photo of them posing with that item.

   

- The rule: Pupils must look at the camera, smile, and say loudly: "Mom/Dad, this is my bag/hat!" right before the parent takes the photo.

- Teacher encourages parents to send these cute photos to the class digital platforms.

- Teacher promises to project the photos on the TV in the next lesson and praise the confident "little models".

CONSOLIDATION

- Teacher reviews the structure "This is my ___."

- Teacher comments on the class's energy and evaluates pupils' participation. Praise the whole class.

ADVICE

- Remind pupils to do the "Little Model" photo mission with their parents.
