UNIT 2: IN THE DINING ROOM
Lesson 3 (1 period)
I. OBJECTIVES
1. Knowledge and skills
By the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to:
- Listen and repeat the sentence “I have a car.” correctly.
- Express their possession correctly and confidently, using “I have a ____.” with words: a car, a cake, a cup, a cat.
- Sing the song with correct pronunciation, natural tune/rhythm and sweet melody.

- Critical thinking and creativity: learn how to express possession about things they have.
- Communication and collaboration: work in pairs and groups to complete the learning tasks.
- Self-control & independent learning: perform pronunciation, speaking, and singing tasks.

- Student’s aids: Tiếng Anh 1 Global Success Student’s book; Workbook; Tablets.
III. PROCEDURES

1. WARM-UP a. Objective: To warm up the class, engage pupils visually using an Emotion Map, and smoothly lead into the target structure “I have a...”. b. Organisation: - Teacher greets the class. - Teacher asks the students to watch an AI-generated video designed to support the lesson and answer the questions that appear in the video. - Teacher introduces mission: "Emotion Map & Happy Surprises" - Teacher puts a very simple, colorful Emotion Map on the board with 3 basic faces: Happy, Sad, and Wow/Surprised.
- Teacher points to the "Happy" face, smiles big, and asks the class playfully: "Who is HAPPY today? Put your hands up!" Let pupils express their feelings briefly by raising hands. - Teacher points to the "Happy" face again and says: "Teacher is very HAPPY today! Do you know why?" - Teacher brings out a brightly colored envelope or a small gift box. Teacher slowly opens it, pulls out a flashcard of a car, smiles widely, and says: "Because... I have a car!"
- Teacher repeats playfully for the other words: points to the "Wow" face, pulls out a cat flashcard, and says: "Wow! I have a cat! Meow!" (Do the same for cake and cup). - Teacher points to the book and says: "Let's see what the boy in our book has today. Open your books, please!" |
- Pupils greet the teacher. - Students watch the AI-generated video and answer the questions about it.
- Pupils look at the visually appealing Emotion Map on the board.
- Pupils interact, raise their hands if they feel happy, and engage with the teacher.
- Pupils focus on the teacher and guess what is inside the box/envelope. - Pupils look at the flashcards, listen to the new target sentence "I have a..." in a meaningful context.
- Pupils enjoy the surprises and repeat the words if they want to.
- Pupils sit down and open their books, ready for Lesson 3. |

Activity 7: Let’s talk. a. Objective: Pupils will be able to express their possession, using "I have a _____." b. Organisation: - Have pupils look at the bubble to understand how the language is used (I have a ____.). Explain the meaning of the sentence, if necessary. - Have pupils look at the first picture. Say Look at Picture a, please! Point to the car and ask them, saying What is this? Tell them that It’s a car. Then point to the bubble and the car and say I have a car.
- Ask pupils to say the sentence “I have a car.” in chorus and individually (Now, point to Picture a and say “I have a car”). If they said the sentence correctly, praise them Well done! Correct pronunciation, if necessary. - Follow the same procedure with Pictures b, c, d. Give further support to those pupils who find it difficult to do the task, if necessary.
- Ask a few pupils to point to the pictures and say “I have a _____.”, saying Now practise saying what you have. Offer help, if necessary. - Invite some pairs of pupils to practise pointing to the pictures or flashcards and say what they have in front of the class. Praise them, saying Excellent! if they performed well. - Teacher moves on to the next content. |
- Pupils look at the speech bubble and understand the structure.
- Pupils look at Picture a, identify the car, and listen to the teacher's model.
- Pupils point to Picture a and say the sentence in chorus and individually.
- Pupils practise with Pictures b (a cake), c (a cup), and d (a cat).
- Selected pupils point and say the sentences independently.
- Pairs of pupils go to the front, point to flashcards, and practise speaking. | |
Activity 8: Let’s sing! a. Objective: Pupils will be able to sing a song with the structure "I have a _____." b. Organisation: ………………………………………….. ………………………………………….. …………………………………………..

3. PRACTICE a. Objective: To consolidate the sentence structure "I have a..." and vocabulary through a basic, visual matching and coloring task. b. Organisation: Mission 1: "Match and Color" Worksheet - Teacher hands out a visually appealing worksheet with 2 columns.
- Left column (Sentences): 1. I have a car. 2. I have a cat. 3. I have a cup. 4. I have a cake. - Right column (Black-and-white Pictures): A. Picture of a cup. B. Picture of a car. C. Picture of a cake. D. Picture of a cat. - Teacher asks pupils to use a pencil to draw a line connecting the sentence to the correct picture.
- After matching, pupils use crayons to color the pictures they just matched. - Teacher walks around to monitor, ensures the task is manageable, and helps weaker pupils. - Teacher invites a few pupils to stand up, point to their colored worksheet, and read the sentences aloud (e.g., pointing to the red car: "I have a car"). - Teacher praises the class: "Beautiful colors! Well done!" Mission 2: Complete the quiz (optional). - Teacher sends link the quiz on website kenhhoctap for student to perform. - Teacher gives pupils 5 minutes to choose the correct answer. - Teacher calls out pupils to share their answers and explain the correct ones. - Teacher moves on to the next content. |
- Pupils receive the worksheet and prepare their pencils and crayons.
