2. PRESENTATION

Activity 1: Listen and repeat.

a. Objective: Pupils will be able to pronounce the sound of the letter I/i in isolation and in the words chicken, chips, fish and milk correctly.

b. Organisation:

- Teacher has pupils look at the picture. Describe the picture: The boy is holding a tray of fish and chips. The word chicken is next to the piece of chicken, etc.

- Draw pupils' attention to the letter I/i and its red colour in the words.

- Teacher displays the interactive textbook on the smartboard.

- Teacher plays the recording. Ask pupils to point to the letter I/i, listen and repeat the sound.

- Teacher activates an AI pronunciation evaluation tool on the pupils' tablets.

- Teacher tells pupils to point to the chicken and the word chicken, asking them to listen and repeat.

- Teacher follows the same procedure with the chips, fish and milk. Correct pronunciation if necessary.

- Teacher plays the recording again. Call a few pupils to say the letter I/i and the words in front of the class, saying Good job!

- Teacher moves on to the next content.

- Pupils look at the picture and listen to the teacher's description.

* Context:  an English boy and his sister standing at a fish and chip shop.

- Pupils pay attention to the red letter I/i.

- Pupils look at the smartboard screen to follow the lesson. 

- Pupils point to the letter I/i, listen, and repeat the sound.

Activity 2: Point and say.

a. Objective: Pupils will be able to point to the letter I/i and food/drinks in the picture and say the sound and the words.

FUN CORNER

Matching game

a. Objective: Pupils will revise the words chicken, chips, fish and milk through a dynamic group game.

b. Organisation:

- Teacher explains how to play: "Listen to the teacher and make a word from the flashcards, please!"

- Teacher uses the smartboard to project a digital countdown timer and visually display the target word once formed. 

- Divide the class into four groups. Give each group a set of letter flashcards (e.g., F, I, S, H). Each pupil holds one card.

- Set the time and say one word loudly, e.g., "FISH!"

- Teacher reminds pupils to move carefully around the classroom tech equipment.

- The group that holds F, I, S, H must run to the front and stand in the correct order to make the word.

- The class reads the word together. The quickest group wins a point.

- Follow the same procedure with other words. Announce the winner.

- Teacher moves on to the next content.

- Pupils listen to the game rules excitedly.

- Pupils look at the smartboard.

- Pupils form groups and receive their letter cards.

- Pupils listen carefully to the teacher's target word.

- Pupils maneuver safely around the room. 

- The called group runs to the front and arranges themselves to form the correct word.

- The whole class cheers and reads the formed word aloud.

3. PRACTICE

a. Objective: To consolidate word recognition using a very basic sentence completion format, highly suitable for Grade 1.

b. Organisation:

Mission 1: "Choose the Correct Word"

4. APPLICATION

a. Objective: To playfully apply the vocabulary to their personal preferences and encourage speaking.

b. Organisation:

Mission: "My Favourite Food Tray"

- Teacher hands out a small piece of paper shaped like a food tray to each pupil.

- Teacher asks pupils to quickly draw ONE food or drink they love the most from today's lesson (fish, chips, chicken, or milk).

- After 2 minutes, teacher asks pupils to stand up, show their food tray to their friends, and introduce it by saying the word loudly (e.g., "Milk!" or "Chicken!").

- Teacher invites 3-4 confident pupils to come to the front, show their trays, and say their favourite food.

- Teacher praises the class for being little artists and speaking loudly.

* CONSOLIDATION

- Teacher reviews the sound of the letter I/i and the four new words (chicken, chips, fish, milk).

- Teacher evaluates pupils' participation and praises the winning groups.

* ADVICE

- Practice saying the words at home when you eat or drink them.

- Prepare for Unit 5 - Lesson 2.

- Pupils receive the paper trays.

- Pupils use pencils/crayons to draw their favourite food/drink from the lesson.
