2. PRESENTATION

Activity 1: Listen and read.

a. Objective: To correctly identify and pronounce target words and sentence structures, as well as read and understand a short story.

b. Organisation:

- Teacher draws pupils’ attention to the pictures (say "Look at the pictures."). Ask questions to help them identify the context: Phil and Sue are superheroes. They are flying and seeing their friends.

- Teacher pushes the digital interactive story file to the pupils' tablets.

- Teacher instructs pupils to connect their headphones and set the volume to a safe level.

- Have pupils point to Picture 1. Play the recording for Picture 1 and encourage pupils to repeat.

- Teacher repeats Step 2 for Pictures 2, 3 and 4. Correct their pronunciation if necessary.

- Have pupils work in pairs to act out the story. Go around the class to offer help and correct pronunciation.

- Teacher invites a few pairs to act out the story for the class.

- Teacher moves on to the next content.

- Pupils observe the 4 pictures and answer the teacher's questions.

- Pupils open the shared story file on their tablets.

- Pupils put on their headphones and adjust the volume safely.

- Pupils point to Picture 1, listen to the audio carefully, and repeat: "Look! Ba's flying a kite!"

- Pupils point, listen, and repeat for the remaining pictures.

- Pupils work in pairs, assigning roles (Phil and Sue) to practice reading the speech bubbles.

- Volunteer pairs come to the front and act out the story with gestures.

3. PRACTICE

a. Objective: To consolidate reading comprehension and target vocabulary using a very basic, visual-focused sentence completion format suitable for Grade 2.

b. Organisation:

Mission 1: "Choose and Write"

- Teacher uses the smartboard to project a digital version of this task.  

- Teacher guides pupils to look at the picture, pick the correct word from the brackets, and write it carefully on their mini-whiteboards.

- Give pupils 2 minutes to complete the task.

- Check answers as a class and have pupils point to the board and read the full sentences aloud together.

Mission 2: Complete the quiz (optional).

- Teacher sends link the quiz on website kenhhoctap: https://kenhhoctap.edu.vn/page/day-du-cac-tai-lieu for student to perform.

- Teacher gives pupils 5 minutes to choose the correct answer.

- Teacher calls out pupils to share their answers and explain the correct ones.

- Teacher monitors and offers support.

- Teacher asks fast finishers to read the completed words aloud to their partners.

- Teacher moves on to the next content.

- Pupils look at the screen, pictures and sentences. 

- Pupils carefully choose the correct word and write it down on their mini-whiteboards.
