Lesson 3 (1 period)

 

I. OBJECTIVES

1. Knowledge and skills

By the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to: 

  • Use the sentence structure "The _____ is yummy." to express feelings about a particular food.
  • Correctly pronounce and use the words: pasta, pizza, popcorn.
  • Sing the lesson's song with the correct pronunciation, rhythm, and melody.

Activity 6: Listen and repeat.

a. Objective: To use the sentence structure The _____ is yummy. to express this feeling.

b. Organisation:

- Teacher draws pupils' attention to the picture (say "Look at the picture."). Say "The boy likes popcorn. The popcorn is yummy."

- Teacher has pupils point to the sentence (say "Point to the sentence."). Play the recording from sachmem.net and encourage pupils to repeat (say "Listen and repeat.").

- Do this several times, with pupils repeating both individually and in chorus.

 

- The teacher demonstrates speaking the sentence "The popcorn is yummy" into the microphone for the AI to display the text and check pronunciation (eg., Native Speech,...).

a. Objective: To sing a song with the sentence structures I like ____. and The _____ is yummy.

b. Organisation:

- Draw pupils' attention to the picture (say "Look at the picture."). Say "It's a birthday party."

- Play the recording from sachmem.net of the song to familiarise pupils with the rhythm and melody (say "Listen.").

- Read the song line by line and encourage pupils to repeat (say "Listen and repeat."). Correct pronunciation.

- Say "Let's sing!". Play the recording line by line and encourage pupils to sing along.

- Have pupils work in groups to make up actions for the song. Invite a few groups to perform the song for the class.
