1. WARM-UP

a. Objective: To revise the learned words from previous units and boost pupils' energy before the self-check.

b. Organisation: 

- Teacher greets the class.

- The teacher operates an interactive digital smartboard to display animated contexts and taps the digital bubbles on the screen to play the corresponding audio.

- Teacher sticks 6-8 3D flashcards of target words (e.g., jelly, van, square, fox, quiz) on the board.

- Teacher divides the class into 2 teams. Invite one pupil from each team to stand in front of the board.

- Teacher says a word (e.g., "volleyball"). The two pupils must quickly slap the correct flashcard. The fastest pupil wins a point.

- Teacher says: "Open your books at page 38 and look at Self-check."

- Pupils greet the teacher.

- Pupils select simple digital technologies to interact by stepping up to the smartboard and tapping the screen to hear the dialogue.

- Pupils look at the flashcards on the board.

- Representatives from both teams step up and get ready.

- Pupils listen carefully and quickly slap the correct picture. The class cheers.

- Pupils open their books to page 38.

a. Objective: To recognise target words while listening.

Activity 2: Listen and circle.

a. Objective: To recognise the sounds of letters while listening.

b. Organisation:

- Have pupils look at the four pairs of letters and say the sounds (say "Point and say."). Confirm by saying /k/, /dʒ/, /ks/, /v/.

- Teacher plays the recording and allow pupils time to complete the activity (say "Listen and circle"). 

- Check the answer to Question 1 by asking /k/ or /v/? When pupils answer correctly, confirm by saying /k/ and encourage them to repeat.

- Teacher repeats Step 3 for Questions 2, 3 and 4.

- Teacher moves on to the next content.

- Pupils point to the letters and produce the corresponding sounds.

- Pupils listen carefully and circle the correct letter for each number.

* Audio script: 1. q; 2. j; 3. x; 4. v

- Pupils answer the teacher's question and repeat the sound /k/.

- Pupils check their answers and practice the sounds.

a. Objective: To write the letters x, q, j and v to complete target words.

Activity 4: Read and tick.

a. Objective: To correctly identify and pronounce target words and sentence structures.

b. Organisation:

- Have pupils read and say the sentence structures in Question 1: Is there a box? Yes, there is. (say "Read and say.").

- Have pupils look at the pictures underneath the sentence structures and say the words (say "Point and say."). Confirm by saying "box/book".

- Teacher says "Read and tick." and allow pupils time to complete the activity.

- Check answers by saying "a or b?". Confirm by saying "1a. Is there a box? Yes, there is." and encourage them to repeat.

- Teacher repeats Steps 1 to 4 for Questions 2 and 3.

- Teacher moves on to the next content.

- Pupils read the first sentence aloud.

- Pupils identify the two pictures (box and book).

- Pupils tick the box matching the sentence.

- Pupils answer the teacher and repeat the full sentence.

- Pupils complete the same process for questions 2 and 3.

Activity 5: Find the words.

a. Objective: To correctly identify target words in a grid.

Activity 6: Write the words.

a. Objective: To correctly spell and complete target words.

b. Organisation:

- Have pupils look at and describe the picture.

- Teacher writes v _ _ _ _ _ _ on the board and encourage pupils to complete the word. Confirm by saying "village" and encourage them to repeat.

- Teacher repeats Step 2 for square, box, juice, jelly and volleyball.

- Say "Write the words." and allow pupils time to complete the activity in their books.

- Teacher checks answers by inviting six pupils to come to the front and complete the words on the board.

- Teacher moves on to the next content.

- Pupils observe the big picture and describe the items they see using English.

* Context:  a village, a boy, a box, juice, jelly, volleyball.

- Pupils guess the word and spell the missing letters for "village".

- Pupils practice spelling the other words orally.

- Pupils fill in the missing letters in their books.

- Selected pupils write the answers on the board.

3. PRACTICE

a. Objective: To consolidate the sentence structures reviewed in the Self-check section using a fast-paced format suitable for Grade 2.

b. Organisation:

4. APPLICATION

a. Objective: To apply the learned vocabulary, sounds, and structures creatively in a collaborative drawing and speaking task.

b. Organisation:

Mission: "My Review Poster"

- Teacher divides the class into groups of 4.

- Give each group a large piece of A3 paper divided into 4 sections, labeled with the letters: J, V, X, Q.

Extension: Pupils work together to quickly draw one object starting with or containing each letter (e.g., Jelly for J, Van for V, Fox for X, Quiz for Q). Give groups 5 minutes.

- Invite groups to stand up, show their poster to the class, and present it using the structures they have learned:

(e.g., "This is a van. It is a letter V.", "Is there a fox? Yes, there is.")

- Teacher praises the groups for their teamwork and creativity.

* CONSOLIDATION

- Teacher reviews and summarizes the main points of Review 2 (Sounds /dʒ/, /v/, /ks/, /k/; target words; sentence structures).

- Teacher comments on and evaluates pupils' performance during the Self-check. Praise those who got all answers correct.

* ADVICE

- Review all the words and structures from Units 5 to 8.

- Prepare for the upcoming mid-term test (if any) or Unit 9.

- Pupils sit in groups of 4.

- Pupils receive the A3 paper.

- Pupils brainstorm and draw pictures matching the target letters in their sections collaboratively.

- Groups present their posters, speaking loudly and pointing to their drawings.

- Pupils applaud their classmates.
