Lesson 2 (1 period)
I. OBJECTIVES
1. Knowledge and skills
By the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to:
- Say a chant with the sound of the letter P/p (/p/), the words pasta, pizza and popcorn and the sentence structure I like ____.
- Recognise the words popcorn, pasta and the sentence structure I like ____. while listening.
- Write the letter P/p and complete the words pizza, popcorn and pasta.

- Teacher activates an AI smart speaker (e.g., Google Assistant,...) to play a fun English children's song by using a simple voice command. While the music plays, pupils pass the box around the class. - When the music stops, the pupil holding the box opens it, picks one flashcard, shows it to the class, and shouts the word (e.g., "Pizza!"). - Teacher praises the pupil and repeats until all flashcards are reviewed. - Teacher leads into the lesson: "Today, we will go to a birthday party and enjoy these foods in Lesson 2." |

Activity 4: Listen and tick. a. Objective: To recognise the words popcorn, pasta and the sentence structure I like ____. while listening. b. Organisation: - Teacher has pupils look at the pictures and say the words (say "Point and say."). When pupils answer correctly, confirm by saying "popcorn /noodles /pasta /pizza".
- Teacher plays the recording from an educational digital application and displays the digital quiz on the screen from sachmem.net. (say "Listen and tick."). Play the recording again, if necessary (say "Listen again."). - Teacher checks the answers by asking "a or b?". When pupils answer correctly, confirm by saying "1a. I like popcorn." / "2a. I like pasta." and encourage them to repeat. - Teacher moves on to the next content. |
- Pupils observe the pictures (1a: popcorn, 1b: noodles; 2a: pasta, 2b: pizza) and say the words aloud.
- Pupils use individual tablets to listen to the audio and tap the correct tick box (a or b) on the screen.
- Pupils answer "a or b" to the teacher. They listen to the teacher's confirmation and repeat the full sentences: "I like popcorn.", "I like pasta." Audio script: 1. I like popcorn. 2. I like pasta. |

3. PRACTICE a. Objective: To consolidate the target vocabulary (pizza, pasta, popcorn) and the sentence structure "I like ___." through exercises. b. Organisation: Mission 1: Worksheet "Trace, Match and Colour" - Teacher hands out a printed worksheet to each pupil. Worksheet Content: * Left column: 3 sentences written in dashed/dotted lines for tracing: 1. I like pizza. 2. I like pasta. 3. I like popcorn. * Right column: 3 black-and-white pictures (a bowl of pasta, a box of popcorn, a pizza) arranged in a random order.
- Teacher explains the tasks clearly:
+ Trace the words carefully to complete the sentences.
+ Draw a line to match each sentence with the correct picture.
+ Colour the pictures beautifully.
- Teacher gives pupils 5-7 minutes to work independently. - Teacher walks around the class to observe, guide pupils holding pencils correctly, and help weaker pupils. - Teacher checks the answers by pointing to the board or a sample worksheet and asking: "Number 1, what picture?". Call a few pupils to read their traced sentences aloud.
Mission 2: Complete the quiz (optional). - Teacher sends link the quiz on website kenhhoctap for student to perform. - Teacher gives pupils 5 minutes to choose the correct answer. - Teacher calls out pupils to share their answers and explain the correct ones. - Teacher moves on to the next content. |
