2. PRESENTATION

Activity 1: Listen and repeat.

a. Objective: To correctly pronounce the name of the letter Q/q and the sound /k/, both in isolation and in the words question, square and quiz.

b. Organisation:

- Teacher draws pupils’ attention to the picture (say "Look at the picture."). Ask questions to help them identify the context: a classroom where the teacher is asking a question, there is a square on the board, and a pupil is doing a quiz.

- Teacher pushes the digital audio lesson to the pupils' tablets.

- Teacher instructs pupils to connect their headphones and set the volume to a safe level.

- Have pupils point to the letter Q/q (say "Point to the letter Q."). Explain that the name of the letter is different to its sound (say "Listen. /kju:/ - /k/.").

- Teacher plays the recording of the name and sound of the letter Q/q. Encourage pupils to repeat individually and in chorus.

- Have pupils look at the question mark. Then have them point to the word question. Draw their attention to the colour of the letter q (It is red).

- Teacher plays the recording of question and encourage pupils to repeat. Correct their pronunciation.

- Teacher repeats Steps 4 and 5 for square and quiz.

- Teacher plays the recording in full and encourage pupils to repeat the letter, sound, and words.

- Teacher moves on to the next content.

- Pupils look at the picture and answer the teacher's questions about the classroom context.

- Pupils unlock their tablets and open the shared audio file.

- Pupils point to the letter Q/q.

- Pupils listen carefully to the difference between the name /kju:/ and the sound /k/.

- Pupils listen and repeat the sound.

- Pupils look at the word question and notice the red letter q.

- Pupils listen and repeat the word question aloud.

- Pupils point, listen, and repeat square and quiz.

- Pupils listen to the full track and repeat confidently.

a. Objective: To consolidate word recognition of the target vocabulary using a simple, visual-focused format suitable for Grade 2.

b. Organisation:

Mission 1: "Choose and Write"

- Teacher uses the smartboard to project a digital version of this task.  

- Teacher guides pupils to look at the picture, pick the correct word from the brackets, and write it carefully on their mini-whiteboards.

- Give pupils 2 minutes to complete the task.

- Check answers as a class and have pupils point to the board and read the sentences aloud together.

Mission 2: Complete the quiz (optional).

- Teacher sends link the quiz on website kenhhoctap: https://kenhhoctap.edu.vn/page/day-du-cac-tai-lieu for student to perform.

- Teacher gives pupils 5 minutes to choose the correct answer.

- Teacher calls out pupils to share their answers and explain the correct ones.

- Teacher monitors and offers support.

- Teacher asks fast finishers to read the completed words aloud to their partners.

- Teacher moves on to the next content.

- Pupils look at the screen, pictures and sentences. 

- Pupils carefully choose the correct word and write it down on their mini-whiteboards.
