I. OBJECTIVES
1. Knowledge and skills
By the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to:
- Say a chant with the sound of the letter K/k (/k/), the words kite, bike and kitten and the sentence structure He’s/She’s _____ (verb + –ing).
- Recognise the words bike, kitten and the sentence structure I have ____. while listening.
- Write the letter K/k and complete the words bike, kite and kitten.

2. PRESENTATION Activity 3: Listen and chant. a. Objective: To say a chant with the sound of the letter K/k (/k/), the words kite, bike, kitten and the sentence structure He’s/She’s ____ (verb + –ing). b. Organisation: - Draw pupils’ attention to the picture and have them point to the kite (say "Look at the picture. Point to the kite.").
- Say "He’s flying a kite." and encourage pupils to repeat. - Repeat for He’s riding a bike. and She’s playing with a kitten. - Teacher introduces a simple AI voice assistant (eg., Native Speech,...) to model the native pronunciation before playing the track.
- Play the recording from sachmem.net of the chant to familiarise pupils with the words and rhythm (say "Listen."). - Have pupils point to the first line of the chant (say "Point to line one."). Play the recording of the first line and encourage pupils to chant (say "Listen and chant."). - Repeat for the other lines of the chant. - Play the recording in full and encourage pupils to chant. Pupils can clap along or do other actions to help them keep the rhythm. - Divide the class into two teams. Teams take it in turns to chant a line. The whole class can clap along or do other actions. - Teacher moves on to the next content. |

Activity 5: Look and write. a. Objective: To write the letter K/k and complete the words bike, kite and kitten. b. Organisation: - Write the letter K (upper case) on the board and say "K" (/keɪ/). - Write the letter K (upper case) on the board again, but this time more slowly. Invite a few pupils to come to the front of the class and write the letter K (upper case) on the board. - Repeat for k (lower case). - Have pupils look at the writing grids (say "Look and write."). Allow pupils time to complete the activity. Go around the class to offer support and feedback. - Have pupils look at the pictures and labels (say "Look and write."). Allow pupils time to complete the activity (filling in bi__e, __ite, __itten). Go around the class to offer support and feedback. - Teacher moves on to the next content. |
- Pupils look at the board and listen to the sound /keɪ/. - Selected pupils come to the board to practice writing the upper case K and lower case k.
- Pupils open their books, look at the grids, and trace/write the letters independently. - Pupils look at the pictures and fill in the missing letters to form complete words: bike, kite, kitten.

4. APPLICATION a. Objective: To apply the learned language in a real-life family setting, encouraging interaction and confident speaking. b. Organisation: Mission: "My Backyard Action Time!" (Home Task) - Teacher assigns a fun mission to do at home with their parents (especially mothers/fathers). - Task: Teacher introduces a simple AI drawing tool (e.g., AutoDraw) that parents can open on a tablet/smartphone. Instructs that pupils can use this AI tool to help them easily draw a kite, bike, or kitten. Show the drawing to your mom or dad, perform the action, and say loudly: "I have a [kite/bike/kitten]!" or "I am playing with a [kite/bike/kitten]!". - Teacher encourages them to teach their parents the actions from the Warm-up game. - Teacher reminds pupils to ask their parents to record a short video of them speaking and drawing, and to share it with the teacher via the class digital platforms. * CONSOLIDATION - Teacher reviews and summarizes the main points of the lesson (Letter K/k, kite, bike, kitten, He's/She's V-ing). - Teacher comments on and evaluates pupils' participation. * ADVICE - Complete the Home Task (My Backyard Action Time). - Prepare for Unit 2 - Lesson 3. |
