UNIT 3: AT THE SEASIDE

Lesson 2 (1 period)

   

I. OBJECTIVES

1. Knowledge and skills

By the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to:

  • Say a chant with the sound of the letter S/s (/s/), the words sea, sail, sand and the sentence structure I can see the _____.
  • Recognise the words sail, sand and the sentence structure I can see ____. while listening. 
  • Write the letter S/s and complete the words sea, sail and sand

  • Communication and collaboration: work in pairs and groups to complete the chanting and learning tasks.

  • Student’s aids: Tiếng Anh 2 Global Success Student’s book; Workbook; Notebook; Mini whiteboards; Tablets/smartphones.

III. PROCEDURES

1. WARM-UP

a. Objective: To revise the letter S/s, the sound /s/ and the words sail, sand, sea learnt in Lesson 1 and create excitement for the new lesson.

b. Organisation:

- Teacher greets the class.

- Teacher asks the students to watch an AI-generated video designed to support the lesson and answer the questions that appear in the video.

- Game: "The Magic Seaside Box"

- Teacher shows a decorated "Magic Box" containing flashcards or small objects of a sail, sand, and sea.

- Teacher invites 3 pupils to come to the front, reach into the box, and pull out one item without looking first.

- When the pupil shows the item, the Teacher asks the whole class: "What's this?" and "What letter does it start with?".

- Teacher praises pupils and encourages them to say the words in chorus.

- Teacher says: “Open your books at page 15 and look at Unit 3, Lesson 2.” to lead into the new lesson.

   

   

   

   

   

   

- Pupils greet the teacher.

- Students watch the AI-generated video and answer the questions about it.

Activity 4: Listen and tick.

a. Objective: To recognise the words sail, sand and the sentence structure I can see ____. while listening.

b. Organisation:

- Have pupils look at the pictures and say the words (say "Point and say."). Confirm by saying "sail/sun/sea/sand".

- Project a basic, highly focused interactive educational quiz on the smartboard and play the recording from sachmem.net and asks pupils to tick the correct boxes directly on the screen.

- Check the answers by asking "a or b?". When pupils answer correctly, confirm by saying "1a. I can see the sail." / "2b. I can see the sand." and encourage them to repeat.

- Teacher moves on to the next content.

   

   

   

   

   

- Pupils point to the pictures and say the words aloud.



 

   

   

   

- Listen to the audio and tap the correct checkboxes (a or b) directly on the interactive smartboard to complete the task.

3. PRACTICE

a. Objective: To consolidate the vocabulary (sea, sail, sand) and the sentence structure (I can see the ____.) through exercises.

b. Organisation: 

Mission 1: Worksheet "Match and Write" 

- Teacher hands out a mini-worksheet to each pupil.

- Teacher explains the task simply:

+ Part 1 (Match): Draw a line to match the picture with the correct word (sea, sail, sand).

+ Part 2 (Write): Look at the picture and write the word in the blank to complete the sentence: "I can see the ____."

- Teacher models item number 1 on the board: Teacher points to the picture of the sea, draws a line to the word "sea", and writes "sea" in the blank: "I can see the sea."

- Teacher gives pupils 3-4 minutes to complete the worksheet independently. Go around the class to offer support to weaker pupils.

- Teacher invites 3 pupils to go to the board to write their answers for the 3 sentences.

- Teacher checks the answers with the whole class. Point to each sentence and encourage the class to read it aloud.

   

Mission 2: Complete the quiz (optional).
