a. Objective: To listen to and understand five communicative contexts and tick the correct pictures.

b. Organisation:

- Teacher draws pupils’ attention to Pictures 1a and 1b. Elicit the names of the characters and what they say. Then play the recording for Question 1. Play again for pupils to do the task. Play a third time to check answers.

- The teacher interacts with the digital textbook on the smartboard, tapping the specific audio icons to play the recording for Question 1.

- Teacher repeats Step 1 for the rest of the pictures.

- Teacher gets pupils to swap books with a partner, then check answers as a class. Write the correct answers on the board. 

- Teacher plays the recording for pupils to double-check their answers.

- The teacher uses the digital pen tool on the smartboard to show the correct ticks.

- Teacher moves on to the next content.

- Pupils look at the pictures and identify the characters/objects.

- Pupils visually follow the digital navigation on the smartboard to understand how audio files are accessed.

- Pupils listen to the recording to understand the contexts.

Activity 3: Read and match.

a. Objective: To read and match pairs of target sentence patterns.

b. Organisation:

- Teacher draws pupils’ attention to the sentences. Tell them about this activity. Point at Sentence 1, elicit the answer and give feedback. Draw a line to match Sentence 1 with the letter e.

- Teacher gives pupils time to do the task independently. Go around the classroom to offer support.

- Teacher gets pupils to swap books with a partner, then check answers together as a class. Write the correct answers on the board. 

Extension: Invite pairs of pupils to stand up and read the matched exchanges aloud.

- Teacher moves on to the next content.

- Pupils observe the sentences 1-5 and options a-e.

Activity 5: Ask and answer.

a. Objective: To ask and answer questions using personal information.

b. Organisation:

- Teacher draws pupils’ attention to the first question (1. How are you?). Get the class to read it in chorus. Elicit the answer and give feedback. Then get pupils to role-play the exchange. Repeat the same procedure with the rest of the questions.

- Teacher gives pupils time to take it in turns to role-play the four exchanges in pairs. Go around the classroom to offer support.

Extension: Invite pairs of pupils to stand up and take it in turns to role-play the target exchanges in front of the class.

- Teacher moves on to the next content.

- Pupils read the questions aloud.

- Pupils observe the teacher's model for answering personal questions.

- Pupils work in pairs, taking turns asking and answering with their real information.

Mission: Star of the Day 

- Teacher organizes the “Star of the Day” interview activity.

- Teacher provides a simple, clean survey table with exactly three columns. The headings are entirely in English: “Name”, “Age”, “Hobby”.

- Teacher asks pupils to stand up, walk around, and interview 2 friends using the structures they just reviewed: “What’s your name?”, “How old are you?”, and “What’s your hobby?”.

- Pupils must note down the real information of their friends.

- Teacher invites 2-3 “Reporters” to stand up and introduce their friends to the class (e.g., “This is Lan. She is eight years old. Her hobby is singing.”).
