UNIT 3: OUR FRIENDS
Lesson 3 (2 periods)
I. OBJECTIVES
1. Knowledge and skills
By the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to:
- Correctly repeat the sounds th (voiced) and th (unvoiced) in isolation, in the words that and thank, and in the sentences That’s Lucy. and Thank you. with the correct pronunciation and intonation.
- Identify the target words that and thank while listening.
- Say the chant with the correct rhythm and pronunciation.
- Read and match four target sentence patterns with four pictures.
- Read, understand and complete three sentences by writing the target words in the gaps.
- Draw pictures of their friends and use them to practise talking to their classmates.

III. PROCEDURES

Organisation: - Teacher greets the class. - Teacher asks the students to watch an AI-generated video designed to support the lesson and answer the questions that appear in the video. - Teacher organizes a quick TPR (Total Physical Response) game called "Music & Friends". - Teacher uses a voice command to an AI-integrated smart speaker (IoT device) to control the music (e.g., "Hey Google, play energetic children's walking music" / "Stop the music"). - Teacher asks pupils to walk or dance around the classroom. When the music stops, pupils must quickly find a partner, high-five, and introduce their partner to the teacher (e.g., "Hello, this is my friend, [Name]."). - Teacher praises the pupils and asks them to open their books to Unit 3, Lesson 3 to start the new lesson. |

Organisation: - Teacher draws pupils' attention to the three sentence options for each question. - Play the recording from sachmem.net for Sentence 1 twice for pupils to listen and tick. Play a third time to check. - Repeat the procedure with Sentence 2. - Teacher displays the exercise from sachmem.net on the smartboard activating the digital ticking tool.
- Extension: Invite pupils to stand up and repeat the sentences. - Teacher moves on to the next content. |

- Teacher draws pupils' attention to Sentence 1 (My name's Nam.) and reads it as a class. - Draw pupils' attention to Picture d. Get them to match it. - Repeat for the other sentences. Monitor the class. - Check answers together. Write the correct answers on the board. - Teacher moves on to the next content. |
- Use the touch screen to drag and drop sentences to match the corresponding pictures. - Pupils read Sentence 1 aloud.

Activity 6: Project. a. Objective: To draw three pictures of their friends and use them to practise talking to their classmates. b. Organisation: - Tell pupils to open their pictures (drawn at home) or give them 3 minutes to draw quick sketches and use them to practice talking to their classmates. - Put pupils into groups. Give them time to point to their pictures and say "This is my friend, (name)." - Go around the class to monitor and offer support. - Invite a few pupils to the front to present their pictures to the class. - Extension: Create a class display using the pictures and vote for the most creative. - Teacher moves on to the next content. |

4. APPLICATION a. Objective: To apply the learned sentence structures to introduce "friends" and respond to greetings using familiar objects at home. b. Organisation: Mission: "Toy Friends Role-play" - Teacher assigns the home task: "Tonight, let's introduce your toy friends to your family!" - Choose two favorite toys (e.g., a teddy bear and a robot) or two pets. Go to your parents or siblings. - Point to the toys and introduce them using English: "Mom/Dad, this is my friend, [Toy 1]." and "That is my friend, [Toy 2]." - Make the two toys talk to each other using the target language: "How are you?" - "I'm fine, thank you."
