UNIT 8: MY SCHOOL THINGS
Lesson 1 (2 periods)
I. OBJECTIVES
1. Knowledge and skills
By the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to:
- Understand and correctly repeat the sentences in two communicative contexts (pictures) to talk about having a school thing.
- Correctly say the phrases and use "I have ____." to talk about having a school thing.
- Enhance the correct use of "I have ____." to talk about having a school thing in a freer context.
- Listen to and understand two communicative contexts in which pupils talk about the school things they have and tick the correct pictures.
- Complete the four gapped sentences with the help of picture cues.
- Sing the song "School things" with the correct pronunciation and melody.

Activity 2: Listen, point and say. a. Objective: To correctly say the phrases and use I have ____ to talk about having a school thing. b. Organisation: - Teacher draws pupils' attention to the pictures.
- Teacher points at Picture a and the phrase a pen underneath. Play the recording for pupils to repeat the phrase a few times. - Teacher draws pupils' attention to the speech bubble (I have ____). Elicit the missing phrase. Write the answer on the board. - Teacher plays the recording for pupils to repeat the full sentence (I have a pen) until they feel confident. Tell them to point at the relevant school thing when they speak. - Teacher repeats the procedure with Pictures b, c, and d. - Teacher gives pupils time to point at Pictures a, b, c, and d to practice saying the sentences in pairs. - Teacher invites a few pupils to stand up, point at each school thing in the picture, and say the sentence aloud. - Teacher moves on to the next content. |

The AI highlights the words dynamically as the song progresses.
- Teacher plays the recording line by line for pupils to listen and repeat. Tells pupils to point at the relevant character/school thing while singing. - Teacher introduces simple actions (e.g., holding up hands like a book) to do while singing. - Teacher gives pupils time to practice singing and doing actions in groups. 4. APPLICATION Mission: "The Mystery Bag" Game a. Objective: To apply the target structure (I have ____) confidently with real objects in a highly interactive, play-based setting. b. Organisation: - Teacher brings out a colorful, opaque cloth bag (The Mystery Bag) containing several pens, rulers, books, and small school bags/pencil cases. - Teacher writes the English instruction on the board: "Task: Feel, Guess, and Say." - Teacher invites one pupil to come to the front, close their eyes, and reach into the bag to pick one item. - The pupil must feel the object and guess what it is without looking. - Once they know, they pull it out, hold it up for the class to see, and proudly announce: "I have a [pen]!" - The class responds: "It's nice!" (reinforcing the dialogue from Activity 1). - The teacher then instructs the pupil to use a tablet to take a photo of the item they pulled out to build a class "My School Things" digital album.
