Activity 1: Look, listen and repeat

a. Objective: To understand and correctly repeat the sentences in two communicative contexts focusing on asking and answering questions about hobbies.

b. Organisation:

- Teacher asks pupils to look at Pictures a and b and identify the characters in the pictures.

- The teacher navigates the digital textbook on the interactive smartboard, clicking on audio icons to play the recordings.

- Teacher asks pupils to look at Picture a. Play the recording for them to listen.

- Teacher plays the recording again, sentence by sentence, for pupils to listen and repeat individually and in chorus. Correct their pronunciation where necessary. Repeat the same procedure with Picture b 

- Teacher invites a few pairs to the front of the classroom to listen to and repeat the sentences in the recording.

- Teacher draws pupils’ attention to the question "What's your hobby?" and the answers "It's singing" and "Dancing". Tells pupils that they are a question and answers about hobbies.

- Teacher moves on to the next content.

- Pupils look at the pictures and identify the characters (Bill, Linh, Lucy, Ben).

- Pupils visually follow the navigation of digital content on the smartboard to know which part is being played.

- Pupils listen to the recording and follow along.

- Pupils listen and repeat the sentences, paying attention to pronunciation.

- Selected pairs go to the front and role-play the exchanges.

- Pupils listen to the teacher's explanation of the target structures.

Activity 3: Let's talk

a. Objective: To enhance the correct use of What's your hobby? - It's ___. to ask and answer questions about someone's hobby in a freer context.

b. Organisation:

- Teacher draws pupils’ attention to the picture. Ask questions to help them understand the context.

- Teacher elicits the missing words in the speech bubble and writes them on the board. Get pupils to say the completed sentences.

- Teacher puts pupils into pairs. Tell them to ask and answer questions using What's your hobby? - It's ____. Go around the classroom to offer support.

- Teacher invites some pairs to the front of the class to present their hobbies.

- Teacher moves on to the next content.

- Pupils look at the picture and identify the contexts.

* Context:  a boy and a girl are drawing by the beach, and three other people are swimming in the sea.

- Pupils observe and say the completed target sentences.

- Pupils work in pairs, asking and answering using the target structures.

a. Objective: To listen to and understand four communicative contexts in which pupils ask and answer questions about hobbies and number the correct pictures.

Activity 5: Read and match.

a. Objective: To read and match the target sentence patterns with the correct pictures.

b. Organisation:

- Teacher draws pupils’ attention to the question, the four sentences.

- Teacher gives pupils an example by getting them to read the question and Sentence 1 in chorus. Draw a line to match it with the picture of the girl dancing.

- Teacher gives pupils time to match Sentences 2, 3 and 4 individually. Check answers as a class.

- Teacher invites a few pupils to stand up and read the sentences aloud.

- Teacher moves on to the next content.

- Pupils observe the sentences and the pictures.

- Pupils follow the teacher's example for sentence 1.

- Pupils work independently to read and draw lines matching the sentences to the pictures.

- Pupils check answers.
