UNIT 5: NATURAL WONDERS OF VIET NAM
LESSON 3: A CLOSER LOOK 2
I. OBJECTIVES:
By the end of the lesson, ss will be able to:
1. Knowledge: Use the lexical items related to the topic “Natural wonders”, Use countable and uncountable nouns, Modal verbs: must/ mustn’t
2. Competences: Improve self-learning competence, creative, communicative and cooperation competence.
3. Quality: Ss can use countable and uncountable nouns to refer to people, things and places
- Have serious attitude to the topic “Natural wonders of Viet Nam”, have awareness when travelling
II. TEACHING AIDS.
T : Textbook, lesson plan, a projector, a laptop
Ss : Text book.
III. Procedure:
- WARM UP: ( 5’)
a. Goal: to provide Ss more wonder of Viet Nam
b. CONTENTS : play the game
c. Expected result: Ss can have useful information about natural wonders of Viet Nam
d. Performance:
-T shows on the screen a list of natural wonders of VietNam then divides class into 2 teams. T sets a time of 5 minutes and asks each memeber of the team to take turn writing the name of the natural wonders and where it located on the board.
- The team that has more correct answers is the winner
2. PRESENTATION (10’)
*Activity 1: Countable and uncountable nouns:
a. Goal: to help Ss recognise the form and use of countable and uncountable nouns
b. CONTENTS: countable and uncountable nouns
c. Expected result: Ss understand the uses of countable and uncountable nouns
d. Performance:

Step 1: Transfering the learning task - T explains how Countable and uncountable nouns is used - Then let Ss read the examples on the board Step 2: Performing the task -SS pay attention and take notes Step 3: Discussion -Ss read the examples on the board Step 4: Conclusion - T makes sure that Ss can have a grasp of Countable and uncountable nouns
| Countable and uncountable nouns 1. Countable nouns - Countable nouns are for the people and things we can count using numbers. Countable nouns can be singular: a rock, an island ... or plural: rocks, islands,.. - We use some, many, a few with countable nouns 2. Uncountable nouns - Uncountable nouns are for the things that we cannot count with numbers, they usually do not have a plural form: cream, chocolate... - We use some, much, a little with uncountable nouns |

Ex 5: Write some more rules for you and your classmates
c. Expected result: Students can understand the use and the form of must or mustn’t

Then asks them to think of the classroom rules (what they must do and what they mustnt do) and complete the sentences 3 and 4, and write their own sentences for 5, Ss can share their ideas in pairs, and give as many sentences as possible.
