B. CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES

   

I. OBJECTIVES

1. Knowledge and skills

By the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to:

  • Say the chant with the correct rhythm and pronunciation.
  • Listen to and understand four sentences describing what the characters are doing in the classroom at break time and number the correct pictures.
  • Listen to and understand a chant with seven sentences describing what the characters usually do in the classroom, and act out the chant.

  • Communication and collaboration: work in pairs and groups to complete the learning tasks.
  • Self-control & independent learning: perform pronunciation, chanting, and acting-out tasks.

III. PROCEDURES

1. WARM-UP

a. Objective: To create a fun atmosphere, engage pupils, and introduce basic classroom commands using Total Physical Response (TPR).

b. Organisation:

- Teacher greets the class.

- Teacher asks the students to watch an AI-generated video designed to support the lesson and answer the questions that appear in the video.

- Teacher invites the class to play a quick game of "Simon Says" to review basic commands (e.g., Stand up, Sit down, Quiet).

- Teacher introduces a basic AI voice assistant (e.g., a Text-to-Speech tool or smart speaker). Teacher inputs commands into the AI tool (e.g., "Stand up", "Sit down") to generate instructions randomly.

- Explain the rule: Pupils only perform the action if the AI voice says "Simon says..." first. If the AI voice only says the command without "Simon says", pupils must stay still. 

- Teacher conducts the game at a fast pace to create excitement.

- Teacher leads into the lesson: "Today we will learn more about classroom activities."

Activity 2: Listen and number.

a. Objective: To listen to and understand four sentences describing what the characters are doing in the classroom at break time and number the correct pictures.

b. Organisation:

- Draw pupils’ attention to the picture and ask questions such as Who are they? and What are they doing? Remind pupils to look at the activities the characters are doing in the classroom.

- Teacher plays the audio file through the class digital sound system. Then play the audio file again for pupils to listen and write numbers. (youtube.com

   

   

- Get pupils to swap books with a partner to check their answers before checking as a class. Correct the answers where necessary.

- Teacher displays an interactive digital worksheet on the screen and inputs the pupils’ answers directly into the worksheet to check the numbering.

- If time allows, play the recording, sentence by sentence, for pupils to listen and repeat in chorus. Correct their pronunciation where necessary.

a. Objective: To consolidate and reinforce the vocabulary and commands learned through a basic, focused multiple-choice exercise (suitable for Grade 4 review level).

b. Organisation:

- Teacher explains that the quiz strictly focuses on fundamental, basic vocabulary without cramming unnecessary words.

- Have pupils use digital answering cards (e.g., Plickers cards) or mini-whiteboards to submit their answers to the digital polling system.
