Activity 1: Listen and repeat

a. Objective: To correctly repeat the sounds of the letters y and n in isolation, in word-initial position in the words yes and no.

b. Organisation:

- Teacher has pupils point at the letter y, the word yes, and the sentences Can you draw? - Yes, I can. Play the recording from youtube for them to listen and repeat in chorus and individually.

- Use a digital voice tool to highlight the phonetic sounds and correct their pronunciation.

- Invite a few pupils to listen to the recording and repeat the sound, the word, and the sentences in front of the class.

- Repeat for the letter n, the word no, and the sentences Can she swim? - No, she can't.

- Have pupils work in pairs or groups, pronouncing the sounds and reading the sentences.

- Teacher moves on to the next content.

- Pupils look at their books, point at the letters and words.

- Pupils listen to the recording and repeat in chorus and individually.

- Pupils listen to phonetic sounds and practice their pronunciation more.

- Selected pupils demonstrate their pronunciation in front of the class.

Activity 3: Let's chant 

a. Objective: To say the chant with the correct pronunciation and rhythm.

b. Organisation:

- Have pupils look at the pictures and predict what the pupils can do. Play the recording from youtube to check.

- Have pupils read the first verse and draw their attention to the sounds of y and n, and the words yes and no.

- Play the recording of the first verse line by line for pupils to listen and repeat. Encourage them to clap hands while chanting.

- Repeat for the second verse.

- Play the recording all the way through for pupils to chant and clap along.

- Teacher moves on to the next content.

- Pupils look at the pictures and make predictions.

- Pupils pay attention to the target sounds.

- Pupils listen, repeat line by line, and clap their hands.

- Pupils chant the whole song together with the rhythm.

Activity 5: Let's write 

a. Objective: To complete a gapped text about the abilities of Lucy, Ben, and the pupils themselves.

b. Organisation:

- Tell the class they will complete the gapped text using picture cues and their own information.

- Do the first gap as an example (look at the picture about Lucy).

- Give pupils time to complete the text independently.

- Provide a shared digital board link (e.g., Padlet) for pupils to type their final answers.

- Invite a few pupils to read their completed texts in front of the class.

- Teacher moves on to the next content.

- Pupils look at the picture cues and understand the task.

- Pupils complete the gapped text independently, inserting their own abilities at the end.

- Give pupils 4 - 5 minutes to complete the worksheet independently.
