Activity 1. Look, listen and repeat.

a. Objective: To understand and correctly repeat the sentences in two communicative contexts in which the characters ask and answer questions about the days of the week.

b. Organisation:

- Have pupils look at Pictures a and b and identify the characters in the pictures.

- The teacher accesses the digital textbook platform and navigates to the Unit 3 interface to trigger the digital audio player for the lesson.

- Ask pupils to look at Picture a. Play the recording for them to listen. Play the recording again, sentence by sentence, for pupils to listen and repeat. Repeat the same procedure with Picture b. Correct their pronunciation where necessary.

- Play the recording again for pupils to listen and repeat in chorus sentence by sentence.

- Invite a few pairs to the front of the classroom to listen to and repeat the sentences in the recording.

- Step 5: Draw their attention to the question “What day is it today?” and the answers “It's Monday.” and “It's Friday.” Tell pupils that they are a question and answer about the days of the week.

- Pupils look at the pictures and identify the characters.

- Pupils look at the digital textbook layout displayed on the projector screen and follow the audio markers to comprehend the context.

- Pupils listen to the recording and repeat sentence by sentence.

a. Objective: To enhance the correct use of “What day is it today? - It's _____.” to ask and answer questions about the days of the week in a freer context.

b. Organisation:

- Draw pupils' attention to the picture. Ask questions to help them identify the context.

- Put pupils into pairs and encourage them to ask and answer questions about the days of the week. Go around the classroom to offer support.

- Invite a few pairs to the front of the class to ask and answer questions about the days of the week using “What day is it today? - It's ___.”and the picture cue. Praise pupils if they perform well.

- Pupils identify the context from the picture.

Activity 5. Look, complete and read.

a. Objective: To complete gapped sentences about the days of the week based on picture cues and read them aloud.

b. Organisation:

- Tell the class the goal of the activity. Explain that they should look at the pictures and complete the sentences with the missing days of the week.

- Have pupils look at the first picture and sentence as an example. Elicit the missing word.

- The teacher opens the interactive gap-fill document on the screen and guides pupils on how to use the computer keyboard to edit and complete the simple digital text.

- Give pupils time to complete the remaining sentences independently. Go around the classroom and offer help if necessary.
