UNIT 11: OUR GREENER WORLD
LESSON 2: A CLOSER LOOK 1
I. OBJECTIVES:
By the end of the lesson, ss will be able to:
- Knowledge:Use the lexical items related to the topic “Our Greener World” and Pronounce the sounds /a:/ and /æ/ correctly in isolation and in context
Competences: Improve self-learning competence, creative, communicative and cooperation competence.
Quality: be able to talk about ways to “go green”
- Have serious attitude to the topic “Our Greener World”, have responsibility for the environment

T : Textbook, lesson plan, a projector, a laptop
Ss : Text book.
III. Procedure:
1. WARM UP: ( 5’)
Guessing words Topic: Our Greener World
a. Goal: Students review vocabulary and check pronunciation and lead in the right tones
b. CONTENTS:
- Guess the LETTER in the word: Our Greener World.
c. Expected result: Topic: Our Greener World
- Students give Answer keys with the letters of learning language and T use it for introduce the lesson. T check SS’tone when they pronounce it and lead in.

2. PRESENTATION (15’)
a. Goal: Student can know the meaning of some vocabularies about Our Greener World
b. CONTENTS:
1. Match each symbol with a word/phrase and a meaning.

1. Matching Step 1: Transfering the learning task - Have Ss read the information in the table and draw a line from a symbol in column A to the matching word in column B and meaning in column C. Ss work in pairs to compare their answers before giving T the answers. Check and write the correct answers on the board. - Elicit the difference between “Recycling” and “Reusing” from Ss. Explain the difference between these two terms again if necessary Step 2: Performing the task - Ss do as requested to complete the task Step 3: Discussion - Report the result to the class Step 4: Conclusion - Teacher monitors and gets feedback |
+ Recycling means reprocessing an old item such as a newspaper, a glass or a can and turning it into a new product. For example, used paper is brought to a factory where it is reprocessed, cleaned and purified. + Reusing means avoiding the processing procedure. It is when people use something over and over again until it can not be used any more. For example, a used plastic bottle can be used to grow a small plant. |
3. PRACTICE (15’)
a. Goal: Student can use the vocabulary above to make sentences about yourself or people you know complete the open passage.
b. Contents:
- Write a word in the box under each picture
