UNIT 11: OUR GREENER WORLD

LESSON 6: SKILLS 2

A. THE OBJECTIVES: 

By the end of the lesson, ss will be able to:

  1. Knowledge: Listen to get specific information about ways to make the school a “green” palace

Write a paragraph about ways to make the school a 'green' place

  1. Competences:Improve self-learning competence, creative, communicative and cooperation competence.

3. Quality:

PRACTICE writing a paragraph about ways to make the school a “green” place

Have serious attitude to the topic “Our Greener World”, have responsibility  for the environment

II. TEACHING AIDS.

T : Textbook, lesson plan, a projector, a laptop

Ss : Text book.

III. Procedure:

  1. WARM UP: ( 5’)

a. Goal: help Sts to enrich some extra vocabulary of the topic and to lead in the topic of the unit and new lesson.

b. Content  - Extra vocabulary.

c. Expected result:  Students broaden their vocabulary and practise pronunciation and  help them know what they will learn new lesson.

I. WARM UP ( 5'):

Step 1: Transfering the learning task

- Tell Ss that the 3Rs Club is looking for a new president. Quickly elicit the necessary qualities of the club president from Ss and write them on the board. Have Ss read the advertisement for this position. Ask them what they will do if they become the club president.

Step 2: Performing the task

- Ss do as requested to complete the task

Step 3: Discussion

- Report the result to the class 

Step 4: Conclusion

- Teacher monitors and gets feedback

2.PRESENTATION - Pre – Listening (10)

a. Goal: Tell Ss that the 3Rs Club is looking for a new president. Quickly elicit the necessary qualities of the club president from Ss and write them on the board. Have Ss read the advertisement for this position. Ask them what they will do if they become the club president.

 b. CONTENTS:  some vocabulary about the topic in the listening

c. Expected result:  Ss read and understand about the topic in the listening.

In order to Listen to the recording and finish the exercises correctly

3.  PRACTICE - While – Listening(18’)

a. Goal: Practise listening skill by  listening to two students talking about what they will do if they become the president of the club and finish the exercises correctly

b. CONTENTS : Ex1: Listen to two students talking about what they will do if they become the president of the club. Put the words or a number in each blank to complete the table

Ex 2:  Tick (v ) True (T) or False (F).

c. Expected result:  listening to two students talking about what they will do if they become the president of the club and finish the exercises correctly

4. PRODUCTION - Writing(15’)

a. Goal: helps Ss to

- generate ideas for their writings

- practise writing a paragraph about their classmates’ ideas for the 3Rs Club

b. Content – interview a classmate

- write a paragraph about the classmate’s ideas

c. Expected result: Ss can write a paragraph about their classmate’ ideas

d. Performance: 

Step 1: Transfering the learning task

- Ask Ss to read the Study Skills box. T may explain the use of connectors to show sequence by referring to the listening.

- T has Ss work in pairs and inter view each other to find out the two things they will do if they become the  club president

- Ask Ss to take notes of each other’ ideas, Ask Ss to expand their deas by explaining the

idea and gwing examples.

Step 2: Performing the task

Ss do as requested to complete the task

Step 3: Discussion

-T has some Ss present their friend’s ideas 

Step 4: Conclusion

T gives comment and adds on to the answer if necessary 

 

 

3. Write about your classmate's idea

Step 1: Transfering the learning task

-Ss write their paragraph individually based on the suggestions in the book.

Step 2: Performing the task

Ss do as requested to complete the task

Step 3: Discussion

- T asks one S to write the paragraph on the board. 

Step 4: Conclusion

- Other Ss and T comment on the paragraph on the board

 

 

 

E.g: Nam is in class 6A1. If he become the president of the 3Rs club, he will set up a gardening group. They can grow flowers in the school garden. ..................................................................................

 

* HOMEWORK: (2’)

- Talk about what you do for the environment

- Learn by heart all the new words.

- Do Exercises

- Prepare: Unit 11: Looking back + Project
