Activity 1: ( 10’) 

a. Goal: Help Ss to review past simple tense

b. CONTENTS : Ss recall the form, use, signals of past simple tense     

c. Expected result: Ss can make sentences using past simple tense

d. Performance:

 + Ask Ss to recall the past simple tense and give example

  + Ask SS to give the form and use of the past simple tense

- Ss do the task:  work in groups

- T and other Ss give comments and result.

I. The past simple tense.

a. Affimative.

  Ex:  My father went to HCM city last week.

 Mr Ba visited Nha Trang last year.

b. Negative. 

Ex: - Hoa didn’t go to school yesterday.

 - We didn’t stay at home last night.

c. Yes/ no- question.

- Did you stay at home last Sunday?

  Yes, I did./ No, I didn’t.

- Did your mother go shopping

   yesterday ?

   Yes, she did. / No, she didn’t.

* Usage: 

- The past simple tense expresses an action that completely finished in the past.

- This tense always go with: yesterday, last week, ( night, month), ... ago

Activity  2: ( 10’)   

a. Goal: Help Ss to use imperatives to tell sb to do sth or to give a direct order

b. CONTENTS : Present the form of imperatives     

c. Expected result: Ss can make sentences base on situations.

- T: Writes the word 'imperative' on the board and asks Ss what they know about this form.

3. PRACTICE  : ( 10’)   

a. Goal: Help Ss to PRACTICE past simple tense

b. CONTENTS : Ss complete the sentences , write the correct form of the verbs.     

c. Expected result: Ss can master past simple tense.

4. PRODUCTION: ( 10’) 

a. Goal: Ss will be able to use past simple to talk about what they did and use imperative to tell someone to do sth. 

b. CONTENTS : Ask Ss to ask and answer in groups   

c. Expected result: Ss develop their speaking.

d. Performance

Task 3: Ask and answer the questions about the weekend.   

Step 1: Transfering the learning task 

T: Divides Ss into groups of 4 or 5. 

Encourage them to gove as many sentences as possible. Tell them to use all three form ( affirmative, negative, and questions)

Step 2: Performing the task

- Ss take turns to ask and answer about their last weekend. 

Step 3: Discussion

• Some more able Ss can report to the class about one of their friends’s last weekend

Step 4: Conclusion

Teacher monitors and gets feedback

 Task 5: Tell your friends what to do and what not to do at the gym.

Step 1: Transfering the learning task

T: Lets Ss work in pairs. Take turns telling their friends what to do and not to do at gym.

Step 2: Performing the task

- Work in pair to do the task 

Step 3: Discussion

- Have Ss compare their answers

- Report the result to the class 

Step 4: Conclusion

- T gives comment and adds on to the answer if necessary

* Some possible sentences:

Pay your fee first.

Put on your trainers/ sports shoes.

Listen to the structor carefully.

Don’t litter.

Don’t eat or drink at the gym.
